Veritas11
recognition of the new versions is not taken into account.I'm on 1.8.2 and when I do research to update the verison 1.8.3 is not recognized.and there is always a problem with the firewall. When is software that works without problems? dantelectro
There's a bug in this version which sometimes causes uTorrent to continually read from the disk at maximum speed, it completely prevents seeding. It only stops when i quit it, and starts again on launch. I don't know what triggers it or what it reads, but all torrent statuses say working, so it's not rechecking.I've updated to 1.9.0 and that hasn't done it yet in the past days. 6205
That new icon does not fit into OS X dock. Sorry but i am sure you can do better..http://browse.deviantart.com/customization/icons/dock/?q=utorrent
dantelectro
I use 1.9.0, AFAIK it uses the same icon as 1.8.3, and it fits the dock for me.Show us a screenshot of it not fitting.
Albe Sure
One vote to bring back the PREVIOUS icon. I REALLY don't like the new icon (bright, neon green vs. a nice shamrock green with a thin white periphery)…it's not even close for me.I tried copy/pasting the old icon over the new icon, it holds but ONLY while the application is inactive. When I launch uTorrent the new icon replaces the old icon in the doc (and otherwise), when I quit the copy/pasted older icon returns.I love uTorrent, PLEASE consider reverting back to the pre-version 1.8.3 icon.Thank you for your time in reading and consideration! -A.S. MisterV
I would say that the new icon is ugly and that the former is better now, because in my case these two icons are equal and for me they really like me at all.I want and I think many here agree to say that when you change the icon for utorrent, there are unfortunate problems.and so I think me and the other will follow, it would be nice to let people choose what they want to icon.an easy to implement, would be in preference / customization, the ability to choose an image file or a file icon.or not to lock files so that they are free to delete and change (if they have the same file name).I personally would opt for the option of customization as it can open wide (personal opinion). MisterV
Uh, why are discussions in version 1.8.3 while we went to the 1.8.4 version?what is the problem with the new icon is resolved?you can change the icon at will without creating problems?is that the 1.8.4 takes into account research updates correctly?is that the 1.8.4 version adds features 1.9.0?is that the 1.8.4 version fixes problems with translation?is that the 1.8.4 version remove the "downlaod now" to include language directly in uTorrent? zangdook
1.84 doesn't work at all. It downloads for a time, then it claims to be complete and says 'flushing to disk'. After 20 minutes of that I quit and restart, now it is incomplete and continues downloading. After a time it turns green, up arrow, but still the files show not complete. Wait a bit, 'flushing to disk'. Wait a long time, force re-check. Now it just sits there, saying it's rechecked 0.4%...How can I get 1.83 back? dantelectro
Do you have time machine backups?I went from 1.7.13 -> 1.8.3 -> 1.8.4 -> 1.9.0 -> 1.6.5 !
MisterV
Utorrent no longer offers their earlier versions. Before it was over now and that's really really painful. And still no response from utorrent, what happens? The new version too much trouble and no problems with the 1.8.3 / 1.8.2 / 1.8.1 / 1.8.0 is still not corrected? It is expected that utorrent is a minium best in quality and not the inverse, thank you for making a real version that works well. andrewisgod
this took me a long time to figure out and caused a huge pain in the neck for me, but i think i finally figured out what happened;i always used to use utorrent mac with no problems on my macbook pro w/ retina on mountain lion, until for no apparent reason it just stopped working, for some reason no torrent would ever make it above 1kb/s download or upload, i thought i had done something wrong so i deleted and reinstalled utorrent about 5 times but nothing worked, i even restored my whole computer with time machine (luckily it wasnt long a ago that i backed up) but that still didnt work, so i gave up and used the PC version of utorrent on the virtual machine, but this was a bit of a pain cos it takes up a lot of RAM to use that. then i found bittorrent and it was exactly the same as utorrent was a few updates ago so i was happy cos id kind of got utorrent mac back and it worked. but then an update for bittorrent came out where it was now exactly the same as utorrent was when it stopped working for me, with the lion notifications and prevent sleep option, and the exact same problem happened, torrent where going agonisingly slowly and there was nothing i could do about it.so this time i realised that it must have been the update that did it, so i deleted bittorrent and re-downloaded the previous version and it works perfectly, so this must have happened to utorrent as well for me, i think it was around the 1.7.7 update.so has this happened to anyone else? or has it been fixed yet cos ive been using bittorrent so i havent been updating utorrent. otherwise if the makers of utorrent could somehow fix this could you please do so, bscause utorrent is my favorite torrent client and i miss it. Albe Sure
Version 1.8.4 has the SAME ugly icon introduced in version 1.8.3.Developers, PLEASE bring back the PRE-1.8.3 icon to uTorrent. Thank you!

StinkyCat
I don't care about the damn icon. I just want my uTorrent to connect to ANY tracker at all!Since I've updated to 1.8.4 (through the site, bc utorrent's own update said it was in the last version. it wasn't.), I cannot connect to ANY tracker. Plus, in the Incoming TCP port it says No Incoming connections or Unavailable and the icon is yellow/gray. That is not true, since I checked on www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ and my chosen port is open.So what's the deal uTorrent? I had to use transmission for god sake
scott523
Why do I see two different versions, 29446 (Stable version listed in Mac downloads page) and 29561 (shown here)? There needs to be commonality here. And when I try to update from 29446 to 29561, I get an error downloading the update. Anyhow, at least installing it manually was a success. CraigTollting
The .pkg allows them to offer a search extension to fund their project. Please click "decline" if you do not want the extension. You'd think they'd have learned from the mistakes of countless developers before them that went this route. Keep on the lookout for the next best torrent client. It appears uTorrent has begun the slow slide into non-relevance. I'll be switching soon.
