wpriester
I have the same problem... Since I've switch to uTorrent 3.4.1, my connection speed has dropped, and this is not a problem with my computer or connection speed. All previous versiosn worked fine, I was getting over 1mb download speeds, now my speed averages around 10 ~ 40kb per sec. Sometimes it fluctuates up to 100kb per sec for about a minute, but always drop back down to 10 ~ 40kb per sec.Is there a place to download the old version? wpriester
I fixed the problem... I dumped new version and downloaded version 3.3.2I have 2 turrents downloading now, one over 500k per second, and the other is over 1mb per sec. How the heck you're going to put out a updated version of a program that has the sole purpose of uploading/downloading, and it doesn't do its job. Well it does its job, but it takes a a few days to do it.

wpriester
ok time to get a new torrent downloader by cause these guys from uTorrent have something fishy going on. Yesterday I downloaded version 3.3.2 (as mentioned above), and everything was lovely all day. Today I noticed that my speeds were back to a snails crawl... but not only that, there is now a freaking advertisment banner on the uTorrent program that says "Your download is taking too long. Install iLivid to increase your download speed". And when I checked my version, its back to the crappy non-freaking-working version 3.4.1. Give me a freaking break.... This darn thing did a update without even notifying me. I won't call out any names but someone SUCKS!I'm gonna look around for other turrent downloaders. wpriester
I just switched to Vuse Bittorrent Client. Seems to be working good so far. DL speed hovering around 1.5+mb sec.Nice interface, kind of like the iTunes look. You can get it from download.com Just seach for "turrent downloader", and you'll see it in the result list. bye uTorrent.
brang
Your replies are not helping me what so ever I used Bittorrent before I got Utorrent and still slow downloads I was hoping for a reply from someone who knows whats up with speeds not because they gone over to Bittorrent
wpriester
Oh sorry. So how long did you use bittorrent? Did it ever work for you at some point?I'm asking because the program should just work if you have a decent download speed and if your firewall isn't blocking it.Did you set your download speed to zero (unlimited)? And who is your internet service provider? Even though I've used bittorrent/utorrent for years, I didn't hesitate to switch. I just need a program to download my files, so I'll use whatever works. Why are you reluctant to at least see if what I recommended work?

Anonymitynow
I experienced a big speed boost by enabling automatic port mapping in the connection settings. It's alot easier than configuring manual port forwarding and setting a static IP for you computer.

NRen
I have no clue if this will help, but I was having similar speed problems and i did the following: Preferences --> Bandwidth --> "Disable the "Apply rate limit to uTP connections" option ( under the Global Rate Limit Options subheading). This fixed my issues (went from ~5-20kb/s to 200-500kb/s +). Hope it helps!

It helps...My downloads were stuck at 60ko/s, disabling "Apply rate limit to uTP connections" make it get to 700ko/s wich was my usual rate before downloading the new version. Thanks a lot

The first link says Setup Guide. Click it and get a Oops Page Not Found 404 error page. If you click the firewall setup it just takes you back to the forum index, not to a post. All the other links just take you to the main forum index. Guess they are old links as that post is from 2006.

Went from less than 60kbps on 2 downloads to both of them going at over 1.5mbps which is faster than I've ever had. (Hadn't really had the need to adjust anything until now.) Techdumb
K, don't know why a new version would require me to change the settings that have worked for a long time, I want ease of use, "click and go" so to speak. with this in mind here is how i fixed the utorrent speed problem, I deleted it and downloaded Vuse, back to 1.5 to 2 mps downloads. tacooverlord
My average download speed was ~1mb/s, but over the past week or so my download speeds have dropped to around 200-300kb/s, and occassionally spikes to around 800, then dropping to below 100. Like I said, this is a very recent problem that started long after I downloaded the most recent uTorrent software update. I haven't changed any down/upload settings and my download speed has dropped significantly and sporadically. Any suggestions?
mArTyN56
It could also be that your ISP is throttling you ! I installed "Spotflux" (VPN free version). This helped me A LOT ! :=)
