Zyzygy
Just after I received the Kitkat 4.4.2 update for my Samsung Galaxy S4, I kept getting a "No such file directory" error whenever attempting to download files directly to my phone's 64gb external SD card using the uTorrent app. I, however, have no problem downloading stuff directly to my phone's internal storage. I suspect the issue is a result of Google's Kitkat update restricting 3rd party app write access to external storages. Is it possible for uTorrent to implement a workaround and have write access to my external SD once again in a future update?

Zyzygy
Are you not able to specify the download location (again)? Right. I select my external micro SD card as the download location, but uTorrent doesn't recognize the directory or location and gives me the error instead. I'm certain this has something to do with Google's KitKat update as I see many others are having the same problem, not only with uTorrent, but with other 3rd party apps as well which previously were able to have write access to external storages. I was able to find several forums offering possible explanations and solutions to the external storage write issue regarding the KitKat update: http://support.solidexplorer.pl/responses/kit-kat-442-issue
Kitsoran
Google just does not give a shit about nerfing SD cards. A workaround does exist but it isn't going to last very long because it exploits a bug to have a system level app do the write ops for you wherever you want on the SD card. Assuming it hasn't been patched already. If you don't mind voiding your warranty you can look into restoring the old behavior. I think it'll involve rooting your phone if you want to keep kitkat. al2gaiden
If you choose the utorrent folder inside of your microsd, you will be able to bypass this Google restriction by the android 4.4.2. I just did.The path is:"/storage/extSdCard/Android/Data/com.utorrent.client"
