Best µTorrent competitor?

Hi guys.

This may not be the correct place to ask, but I figured you guys (most likely) currently use µTorrent, and some of you might know the competition better than I do.

I've basically come to a point where I don't want to keep µTorrent any longer and want to switch to a competitor, but I have never used anything else... Well, I did try Azureus like 6-7 years ago or something... Ewww, that was painful and slow.

I really like the general feel and responsiveness of the UI so that's what I'd like. I also really like automated RSS downloads, but that's not entirely necessary from within the client. What is the best alternative do you guys think?

And I guess the question will arise as to why I'm leaving, so I'll just go ahead and scribble down the basics...

#1 All the ads is a major one. I feel like with every new version there's something new you have to go in to advanced options to get rid of, and now this "Bundles" thing you can't even get rid of even if you hide it, it keeps coming back.

#2 Another major thing is the response given here to people complaining about the maze you have to navigate through to install the client without getting adware/malware. As an example, just earlier this week an admin is in post [3.4.x stable] post #512 calling a user stupid for not declining one of the offers to get malware. Fantastic.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any tips. Also, what made you switch from X client to µTorrent instead?

Thank you dude, I looked up all four of your suggestions.

BitComet and baretorrent have not been updated since 2013, so I guess they're no longer being improved upon. (unless they're already perfect the way they are, hehe)

Transmission seems nice, but I guess I should have mentioned I'm on Windows. I guess I could set it up as a web client, but that's not what I want primarily.

qBittorrent seems solid though! Thank you. Might give it a go. :)

Anyone else reading this, feel free to continue the suggestions. I greatly appreciate it.

EDIT: Actually, I did find a QT build of Transmission for Windows as well, but I'd like to stick to official builds I think.

Given BitComets history I must say NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!

Haha, well, I went in to its changelog and read this:

- GUI Improved: move VIP Acceleration window into BitTorrent task properties dialog

That instantly made me go: Ewwwww! WTF is that - I don't even wanna know, lol... Sounds like uTorrent Plus. ^_^

Also, in regards to client search, Deluge seems to be one of the top contenders alsong side qBittorrent :)

Thanks again, Beasly.

I recognized a pattern with some of these. Most of them seem to build upon the libtorrent library, and like, most of them are listed here on SourceForge. (qB, Transmission, Halite)

I think I'm happy with trying out Deluge and qBittorrent though. Thanks for the suggestions. B)

#1 - you can disable  all of them (or use my settings... ). The bundle thing is a bug...

#2 - it was *me* who suggested being stupid, not an admin.... You want me to choose a nicer word? Irresponsible? unfair (to complain after the fact)? Your choice...

My tip: Learn to live with it or update only to what you like/stable... Not too difficult...

If your a heavy user of the private sites there are only two real options other than utorrent for a windows pc.  Qbittorrent and deluge.  They're the only ones accepted by a high majority of private sites.  Qbittorrent is my favorite of those, but it can't cross seed properly like utorrents relocate feature.

Here's my .02 I still use the older Ut versions and those don't have ads or bugs not sure but that older version works fine for me. I don't need to get the most recent Ut as mine is working just good. Also if your get anything Copyright Protected your also asking for trouble from your ISP.

To the OP,

Nothing is forever they update Ut and things change if you had a older version which I know some here download/save and still use those didn't have all the ads as the later version do now.

1. My older Ut doesn't come with ads....which I will keep using...

2 That is something Ut management choose to do and only thing you can do is go back to a older version or find another similiar Ut program to use.
