MrHost001 Posted August 1, 2014 Report Share Posted August 1, 2014 Hi, i'm having this weird problem, hopefully you'll have time to help me fix it It's been something like 2 months now that i'm having this problem: when i'm downloading something, randomly at a certain point (that could be after 1 minute, 5 minutes, 20 minutes or anything else, even if 5-10 minutes is usually how much i have to wait before it happens), my computer starts slowing down A LOT, in the task manager it says "utorrent.exe" is using 98-99% of my cpu while normally it has always been using around 10%. At the same time, not always but a few times, when my computer almost freezes with the cpu very high, the download and upload speed in utorrent increases a lot, reaching numbers way higher than what my ISP should be allowing...i've got the speed limit at 500 kB/s (ISP limit), but when this problem happens, i see the download speed going at speeds like 4-6 MB/s which is not normal at all...the same thing happens with the upload speed. This speed increase isn't a real one though, as the files aren't being downloaded so fast as the program says. to get my computer to work again when utorrent is killing my cpu, i have to either close the program or stop the download of the file, then when i put it on again the problem starts again after a little bit, quite randomly. I've tried using peerblock but the problem is still here...i've also tried to set in the advanced options "net.low_cpu = *true" and i've also tried to "limit local peer bandwidth". I've tried to even re-install windows from zero, but i still get utorrent.exe burning all my cpu. Obviously "apply rate limit to uTP connections" is on, and the settings i'm using are the settings i've always been using so i can't really figure out what the problem could be. My computer specs: CPU: "AMD Athlon 64 processor 3200+" (yes i know, quite crappy cpu now, but it's fine for programs like utorrent)RAM: "3,0 GB"VideoCard: "NVIDIA GeForce GT 220"System: "Windows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit SP1"utorrent version: "uTorrent 3.4.2 build 32239 32-Bit" Please someone help me, i'm really stuck on this problem since a while now and i'm really desperate..Thanks in advance Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Kitsoran Posted August 3, 2014 Report Share Posted August 3, 2014 Unfortunately the logs look mostly OK to me, the best I can do is to try and fish a bit. First time seeing Freemake Improver, some quick searching and it doesn't appear to be an issue. Some complaints about it but they don't appear relevant. Peerblock is of questionable value, but probably isn't causing this issue. As a test, try FULLY uninstalling Avira and see if the behavior persists. It doesn't appear related but let's be sure. If you still experience the issue, there's two things you could check. One, what peer that bandwidth appears to come from. You can click on it and use CTRL+C to copy the stats in the Peers tab. Two, try double-clicking uTorrent in Process Explorer, go to threads, click the thread with the highest use, click stack, click copy all, and paste it here.
