ImYongSo
Hi,Yesterday my colleague sent me some files thru torrent. He created the torrent file in uTorrent with these trackers:tracker.ccc.detracker.openbittorrent.comtracker.publicbt.com The torrent file was only sent to me. However, a number (~10) of unfamiliar peers appeared on the Peer list. Can someone please explain where did these peers come from? Did they come from the trackers? licurg
Perhaps he sent the same torrent file to others. Was DHT enabled?
ImYongSo
Perhaps he sent the same torrent file to others. Was DHT enabled?Yes, the DHT is enabled.I'm pretty sure he didn't send the newly created torrent file to anyone else. Is it possible that if he downloaded those files from some web-site and then created a new .torrent file with the same files and the same name it registered as the same torrent on the trackers? They don't have the files, only info about them in the hash tables.
Kitsoran
Are they in the peers list or just counts? Some trackers insert fake addresses but they wont show up in the peers list, just the counts.
ImYongSo
I just remembered that I can google the hash of the torrent. So I did just that and it returned the same torrent that I've downloaded. Mystery solved.
