Keep uTorrent contained entirely on external drive? (Including files in AppData\Roaming\uTorrent)

Is it possible to install uTorrent entirely on an external hard drive, including the files kept in AppData\Roaming\uTorrent?

No and yes some have said it work and some have said it doesn't alot depends on how your setup is on your computer. For me, my Ut folder is on separate HDD but the Ut data folder is on my main C:\ user directory. Even when I installed it and made the main folder on the HDD the main data Ut folder resides in the user directory. So your data folder remains in the user directory installed but your Ut program and folder can reside on another HDD or ext drive but remember if you reformat your links must all match otherwise Ut will not see the previous links. I think you can move that folder but not sure what would happen if you tried to restart if could work or it will recreate the same ut data folder in the user directory again.

Also this might help or give more info...

Thanks for that link, it looks like new torrents I add will be added to the external drive instead of using AppData. I am having some trouble moving over past torrents to this new directory however, whenever I try the torrent gives the error "Error: Can't open torrent file".

I also tried using the "Automatically load .torrents from" option and used a separate folder for this but although it changed the torrents in that folder to the .loaded extension it gave the same error and did not work.

The third thing I tried was using File->Add Torrent which asked me to re-load the trackers but not did actually fix the problem.

Is there a better way to transfer my completed torrent files over?

No you should first finish the current one where they are torrented to and any new ones make sure they are moved to the new location and that should fix your ""Error: Can't open torrent file"" this is because it can't locate the torrent files to continue that is why you get that error. I learned in the past the hard way. For my setup I have a Tower and multiple HDD and the torrent program and downloaded torrents are on separate HDD so if the main C get reformatted as long as I copy my user/roaming ut data folder and copy it back to the same location again it will restart as though nothing was changed saving back to the right HDD.
