scibuff
Hi, I downloaded the executable from utorrent.com but instead of simply running it starts an installation wizard??? I have to run it as an admin but the installation fails as, obviously, "Windows cannot access the specified device path or file" because the files are installed into the admin's user/appdata folder??? What is that for and why can't I change it? What kind of installation wizard is that? BTW, what happened to the good old single executable file I could put anywhere, why the need to add an installation wizzard and *spam* me with an offer I definitely don't want? How is that better than any other 3rd party installer?
mike20021969
The easiest option is to File>Exit µTorrent. Then place the downloaded file (uTorrent.exe) into the folder location where µTorrent runs from (thus overwriting the previous version). Then launch µTorrent. That way there's no stupid installation process.
scibuff
Hmmm, I don't see any executable anywhere in the user folders or the installation path. All I see is the stupid uTorrent.exe which starts the installation wizard p.s. I've kept the older version executables, e.g. uTorrent.exe.30582 if I try to use one of those (by renaming to uTorrent.exe) the stupid installation wizard starts regardless
