uTorrent keeps freezing, build 3.1.3

I've been using uTorrent for years now, all of sudden, I can't use it as it freezes almost immediately when I start the program, I don't even have the time to check the settings to see if there's something wrong.

Posting here is my last chance, as every tutorial and crap from various sites doesn't seem to help me, including the other posts about the program freezing in uTorrent forums. I have tried disabling my firewalls and every other regular crap, nothing works.

How do I fix this irritating problem?

I really don't want to switch the program used for torrents, because uTorrent is the best.

Oh right and I use Win7 x64

EDIT:

I figured out that it freezes when it's checking some of the torrents when starting the program, all I had to do is just remove those torrents where it freezes and now it works normally again. I don't know why it happens as the torrents where it froze, has worked earlier (I'm downloading stuff back after I resetted my computer) but now they don't. I really don't know are the torrents dead or is something wrong with uTorrent but anyways I now know what caused the freezing.

EDIT2:

Scratch that, I said it too early, crap keeps freezing again.

I didn't say that you said to me to make a new thread, did I? I simply reported a bug that apparently hasn't yet been recognised in the uTorrent systems.

Really getting impatient as I have to download those torrents quickly but I can't as it keeps freezing and whatever I do trying to fix it, nothing works...Administrators sure can remove my threads but can't actually respond to any.

I'm seeing the same since 3.1.3.stable amd every 3.2 beta since then.
As far as I have been able to determine, it is related to magnets and how utorrent pre-loads its content.
If you add more than one magnet at the same time, you have a very high probability of triggering an AppHang.
If you add them one at a time and wait for the pre-load to complete, it won't freeze up.

Note that this only related to magnets. You can add torrents in the hundreds without fail.

Really? ALL my current downloads are magnets, thanks to the new TPB, downloading about 180 magnets at the same time. This is my first time using magnets, and this is the first time uTorrent freezing.

EDIT: Oh the relief...I just hope that the problem gets fixed asap in the next update, as so far it seems I will be only using magnets and I really use uTorrent a lot.

Apparently yes, the program freezes after I download about 180 magnets, when I downloaded same amount of torrents, it doesn't freeze.

That's right.
I have tested this exhaustively, and that is the scenario which always leads to problems.
If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say the program ends in an unintended loop which never terminates.
If you have a version which logs each action it should be fairly easy to spot.

For me the magnets really caused the freezing, that highly irritating problem is solved by downloading only torrents.

That's not really a long-term solution, as more and more people and companies are turning to magnets.

Confirmed 26934 is still hanging (32-bit) on Windows 7 x64.

Further to what seems to cause it --- when it completes 'checking' a torrent and moves onto the next one it appears that 2 are marked as 'checking' and then the app hangs.

Ditto. Exact same thing going on here. If I stop all transfers and only allow utorrent to check them one at a time, that seems to do the trick.

Couldn't find the .dmp-file, but alas, it crashes all the time.
Also, I'm using Windows Security Essentials as protection. I'll be happy to try stuff to fix this problem, or if you need more information.

I also noted that this does not happen if I only have one torrent running. In my case I have a NAS that won't reconnect when I log into Windows, which means the torrent fail to start right away. If I only start one, I'm fine.

Yup. Same here. Since I updated to 3.1.3 it freezes all the time. Even now I can't maximize the window because it's probably frozen. This sucks!!!!!

I have never had a single problem with you utorrent but ever since i upgraded it freezes right away without fail. I can see utorrent open but thats it nothings happening.

I have used utorrent for years as well. I never had a problem, Utorrent is fantastic software. Even though i got some freezes i was easily able to uninstall and go back to an older version and all is well again so that is a big plus. Utorrent is a small file and lite on resources by itself and that is part of what makes it great.

In a future utorrent I would like to see this..

Due to storage issues, the amount and size of files I have I am often moving files from place to place after seeding for a while. I would like to seed everything i download even if i have moved it somewhere else. It would be nice for utorrent to AUTOMATICALLY track the files I download anywhere on my pc regardless of where i move them so i can continue sharing without interference. I am unaware if there is already a way to do this or this puts people at any kind of risk. I just wanted to let you know what i want to see in a future release. Thx for the great software

Due to the way files are hashed, this isn't possible.
