µTorrent 1.7.2 released

Firon

Recommended Posts

The biggest changes were full Vista support and the removal of the 65,536 piece limit for torrents.

Also added was support for finding local peers (peers on the same LAN) and optionally not having any upload restrictions for them.

It is also possible to turn on automatic updating for betas now, found in the "Other" section of the preferences.

Read the changelog for more!

I truly hate to come across as stupifyingly dense, but exactly what/where *is* the "changelog"? I'm sure it's right under my nose...but you know how hard things are to find when one's big, fat nose is in the way.

(I rrecall, while auto-updating, that there was something about multi-file torrent support, and was curious if that was the doohicky I'd requested several days ago, or something else.)

@Honeyfrog: You must've missed that huge block of text immediately under the line you quoted... O.O Granted, it's not an overall summary changelog from 1.6.1, but it's the changelog in its full glory (for the moment anyway). The "executive" changelog should come later.

congratulation..

Question:

* no downloads

* 2 torrents uploading (~5 pears)

* UPLOAD global limit set to 9

* one PC, no other PCs (+ router) on the local LAN

* limit local peers bandwidth - unchecked

* My local IP : 192.168.2.2

* my router (external) IP was atm : 82.81.92.106

* Win98

The UL limit seems not to be enforced

http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/49/49260065fx4.png

* checking "limit local peers bandwidth" - immediately activates the global limit.

A bug ? feature ?

I think it's a problem that should be fixed ASAP...

I am excited about this new update, however when I installed it, I was immediately bombarded with users attempting to remote access my computer. I have never had this before, and it came as a shock.

I use a firewall that normally allows me to let utorrent access throught the firewall. This allows me to individually allow access for each user. I normally do not have to even consider this under utorrent 1.6, and I share quite happily.

Is this normal? Can I share torrents if I do not allow access to any users? How much access does a user have if I permit?

Oh man.... that sounds like an old WINE bug I might have fixed and unfixed... search the forums a bit poncho - you will probably find the answer :)

EDIT:

- Fix: Work around a Wine bug where getsockname() returns success but keeps passed in port at 0 if socket already bound; thus uTorrent would itself reset back to port 0 if it was already in use

and then

- Change: Remove a hack that was put in for Wine's getsockname() in build 2132; it didn't work correctly

....

so that is the answer :)

hi there

i just regeistered cause i got some serious questions!

My utorrent said "New update available" and i thought alright new update new utorrent, no problem. right after it updated itself all my torrents either did not work or the got slower and while running utorrent now, the internet is slower too!

Then the torrents which i use from an ALT Tracker said that i would have a forbidded tracker?

What is the meaning of this and how can i reverse the update without lsoing the torrents, cause there are 2 in it which i barely got a hold on in the inet and do not know where to find them again!!!

this is really really bad! :(
