Just wondirng. sorry if in wrong forum.
Could anyone tell me if download speed is based on upload? I've seen that when I lowered my upload rate my download rate seemed to go down also; but when I changed it back to 'unlimited" (upload) the download semmed to "fix" it self/go back up. If it is true could who ever C++'s Utorrent change that so it doesn't (If possible)? Thank you!

Lowering your upload rate too low will negatively affect your download speeds.
The sweet spot for upload rate settings is between 50% and 80% of the line's rated upload (usually closer to 80%)

No, no, no.
I don't want you stealing my bandwidth! How can I stop it from uploading?
You could hack the source to not upload, but then your download rate would suck. BitTorrent downloaders engage in tit-for-tat with their peers, so leeches have very little success downloading.
The whole point of BitTorrent is that you upload while downloading.

Leaving it on unlimited is also not very good, Since you would effectively kill anything else using your internet connection (and your router, if you have one, and if its not a very good one). Just as dread suggested, Cap it to around 80% of your maximum.
