GelbMalva
Hello,Before today I had never used a torrent client. In fact I didn't even know what a torrent was. I managed to create a torrent and upload it and to download torrents from others which is a good start.BUT it is now quite late and I always shut down my computer for the night. I have torrents downloading and seeding at the moment. Is it a problem if I exit uTorrent and shut down the computer? Should I stop all activities first? Please reply fast before I fall asleep in my chair. =)Thanks!GelbMalva
DreadWingKnight
If you give uTorrent enough time to shut down gracefully before you turn your computer off it will work fine when you turn it back on.

Firon
You should try turning on bt.graceful_shutdown too, though Windows can still kill the process if you don't close it before you reboot.
GelbMalva
Thanks. What I do is that I stop everything in uTorrent before shutting down Windows and when I launch Windows in the morning I restart everything. It's been working fine that way so I guess it is okay. Otley2009
does this mean when you turn it back on torrent remembers where you stopped it and will restart from where it stopped??Job Biscuit (New)!!!eh eh!!
moogly
If uT has been closed properly, yes. You can resume your torrents from the same point.
GelbMalva
I select all torrents in the list, click on STOP. The status change to Finished (if you are seeding), to Stopped (if you're downloading). When I open my computer in the morning, the status is the same so I simply click on START. It works fine. whatever
Before hibernating my system (or putting it into standby mode), I exit uTorrent rather than simply stopping/starting (or pausing/unpausing) torrents, because uTorrent will take up to 20 minutes to remap the UPnP port. Unless I'm worried about my ratio on a certain tracker, and that tracker is down at the moment, in which case I'd stop/start...
GelbMalva
I was afraid to do that because I thought it would be like pressing Alt+Ctrl+Del to exit the program.
