utorrent extremely unstable

I am running uTorrent (latest stable build) on a Atom 1.6 GHz processor netbook on a 8Mbps/1Mbps connection running XP SP3. Since yesterday, utorrent has become extremely unstable, taking over a minute to respond to any input, including minimizing and maximizing the window. When utorrent is running, System Idle Processes shoot to near 100%.  Speeds seem to be unaffected, as torrents continue to download at the same speed they always did. I reduced my global connections to 200, but still no success.

Software that I considered to be conflicting were Spybot S&D, Adaware or AVG, but the problems have persisted even with those applications turned off. I am using the Windows firewall, but seem to be able to find no fault in that, either. Here is a Hijackthis log:

Re: utorrent extremely unstable

Disabling doesn't actually disable a lot of firewalls and av software.

Also, I see bits of norton crap left over, used to have Norton Internet Security? http://service1.symantec.com/Support/ts … 3108162039

Prevx says this could be malware: pcproxy.dll

If you've never had a problem with Zone Alarm before, you're either blind or out of luck.
Always kill Norton with FIRE: http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/ … 10133834EN

Re: utorrent extremely unstable

I am going to clean up with old Norton stuff, but I doubt it is the issues, as I have had that stuff laying around forever. I will clear it out, though.

As for pcproxy.dll, I am going to hold off until I get a better idea what it is.

Try updating AVG and then running it while in "Safe Mode". Are you running any parental control software or anything that MIGHT want to intercept Internet traffic?

Re: utorrent extremely unstable

I am sorry if this thread is considered old. But I think I know the reason uTorrent is freezing in this case.

Here is your problem buddy:
→_→ AmplusnetPrivacyTools.exe

I was searching for some information about this .exe process, and suddenly found this thread. And I was also having the same issue you mentioned about uTorrent.

I deleted it and everything is superb now.

Hope this help.
