If your ISP limits your upload bandwidth per month and charges you if you go over that amount...you better set your upload speeds low enough that it is VERY unlikely to exceed your temporary max.

Your ISP is probably evil enough that if you did briefly exceed max upload speed that they'd drop the excess upload packets...but still count them against your monthly limit!

Unlike the normal recommended upload speed of 80% max, I suggest you only use 50% max.

Shareaza, DC++, eDonkey, eMule...are also only sustainable if enough people share. They just may not force it in the protocols they use like BitTorrent does.

Forget that. From a User Standpoint, set it to only 6KB/s and 2 upload slots. This would take advantage of BitTorrent's Socialist Reality, so You can still get a pretty decent rate set up like this. Try not to go lower though: not only will uTorrent start artificial capping, but 6KB/s over 2 slots not far off from "minimum contribution" - if you upload more slowly than that, clients may not want to trade with you.

DC hubs mostly require a certain amount of data to be shared. Chances are, if you have stuff people want, you're going to have to upload. P2P is P2P for a reason. The only way for you to completely stop uploads is... not use the internet at all. You're uploading when you send emails. You're uploading when you browse sites.

P2P is not for you -- you're best (1) sticking to traditional transfer protocols like HTTP or FTP, or (2) switching ISPs. I think the latter is the best choice, if possible.

So you're saying your ISP cheats you?

It says 1 limit, then charges you for another?

If so, there is nothing we can do for you except continuing to recommend something that does not REQUIRE you to upload.

Because if you hate how your ISP treats you, then you can at least understand others do not want to be treated the same way.
