dr_dillon
Windows firewall is blocking my BitTorrent downloads. It has not worked properly since I moved back to the states from Germany. I also checked the setting for the firewall and do have BitTorrent as a safe site. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Switeck
If you're using a satellite ISP service, you are probably firewalled by it.
dr_dillon
Thanks--yes we are currently connected by Hughes Net (new housing with no phone/internet cables run yet). So how would I unblock the firewall from the satelite provider?
paintball9
More than likely you can't. They block all but the necessary ports, on purpose because satellite communication is so expensive.

Switeck
They probably even only give you a LAN ip address, so the same internet ip may be shared by multiple others.

paintball9
VPN might be able to get through, Its gonna cost you a bit though, and you're speed won't be great.
GTHK
2 year old posts on some random forum I found say $10 to get a static public IP, you'd need to check with them to confirm the price and if they directly assign you a public IP.
