Btguard and utorrent

I have btguard and it came with an old version of utorrent. Now, it seemed as if as long as btguard was disconnected torrents would not download, I could be wrong but I think that was the case. I installed utorrent 2.2 and it was not the same, although I configured it the way it stated in the advanced install on btguard site. Although it will download while btguard is disconnected. Do I have to use the version of utorrent they give me in order for it to work properly or as long as I configure it as it says on the site will I be okay?

I posted this earlier, but I was afraid it was in the wrong section so I reposted it

Re: Btguard and utorrent

If you use µTorrent 2.2 and configure it exactly as they tell you, it should not download while disconnected.

Re: Btguard and utorrent

I am doing exactly what it says to do. I even uninstalled utorrent and btguard and reinstalled both, configured as noted on the webpage and it still downloads while connected. I really do not want to use the old one they give out considering how out dated it is at this point. I have been using 2.2 for a few days and really see a major improvement on my end

Re: Btguard and utorrent

You do NOT have to use their copy of uTorrent. If you did install it, & already had a regular install of uTorrent, then you can end up with two of them on your system. Make sure you only have the latest version of uTorrent 2.2 from the uTorrent download page. Use the BTGuard Advance Install instructions. 2.2 has some socks proxy service anti leak fixes. BTGuard does show a picture of the correct settings for the newer 2.2 version in their advanced setup screen.

G'day excuse my ignorance but are you refering to the MyEnTunnel that BTGuard installs. If so then I have always found that downloads continued whenever MyEnTunnel dropped out and while it tried to reconnect.

I reinstalled BTGuard yesterday as it was the only way I could find to reinstall a pre 2.2 version of uTorrent. BTGuard installed 2.0.3 ( Build  20683  via uT. > Help > About uT.) , but Win7*64 lists it as Ver 2.0.4 (via - Control Panel  >  Programs & Features) . I've no idear what that is about.

Re: Btguard and utorrent

Neither of those versions (2.0.3 or 2.0.4) are supported anymore.

FAQ and Search - Use them.
If guides ask for info, provide it before I have to ask for it.

You keep telling us that, but with so many problems with 2.2 and people being forced back to earlier versions, they may need help even if you are not in the mood. They are supporting uTorrent even if you are not supporting them.

Re: Btguard and utorrent

The v2.2 'not responding' bug seems to work itself out after 2 or 3 days of running & restarting it. This happened on a Windows 7 x64 bit & an XP SP3 Pro x86 bit system. For the past week 3 computers have been running with no problems after that first 2 to 3 day break in period??? I tried to use MyEnTunnel without success. I use the built in Encryption in uTorrent instead. My ISP DOES throttle ALL filesharing proggies, & the built in Encryption in uTorrent by-passes this so far. Why run a separate Encryption proggie when uTorrent has it built in for you. I set mine to FORCED & NO Legacy connections in order to by-pass my ISP throttling. No choice on setting these settings any other way because of my ISP.
