uTorrent 2.2 RAM issue

When I download something, uTorrent uses my full RAM memory. It increases gradually to 4 GB of ram with a single torrent. I tried to override the cache, but nothing.

These are my settings. With 2.0.4 I have no problem.

Win 7 x64 and the last 2.2 stable build.

Yes, it starts normal and it increases until it takes all the ram memory. On a 4 GB file the RAM amount in use is about 2 GB. If you download something bigger, the ram amount increases until disk overload error surfaces. On my system it took 4 GB of RAM. With the same settings, 2.0.4 never uses more than 50 mb.

It's probably the windows disk cache thing AGAIN.

Yes, it does not disable the windows cache. I tried to override and nothing. It crashes with disk overload but after 2 or 3 minutes it resumes dld and the ram used just increases.

And what again? It is how utorrent uses ram/commit, isn't it? Guys, have you read about i/o priorities? (http://download.microsoft.com/download/ … rityio.doc) That's not the root of this problem - just fyi, utorrent uses tons of normal priority (5) cache instead of low and that easily can badly interfere with other more important processes on system.

In my topic where i described my problem (http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=90148) i have that on third screenshot.

I really want to solve this problem, i can give any info needed. Please help us.

Specify a manual disk cache size.

Yepp, i tried that too - changed virtual memory size from auto (4G) to 256M.

Can you give us a HijackThis log?
Furthermore, when it uses a lot of memory, can you go to the Speed tab, change the view to Disk Statistics and take a screenshot?

Could you also take a look at the Speed tab, change the view to Disk Statistics and take a screenshot whenever your uT's memory usage is out of control?

I found workaround for this problem, check if it works for you. i got same problem while downloading torrent which is ~100GB, 140 Files, 21 Folders.
But when i set priority high for like 20 files on that torrent, it uses max 200mb of ram.

However when those 20 files are downloaded, the problem happend again. It builds up to use all available system ram. Safe number to set priority to high is 30 files. After that has downloaded, set priority high to other 30 files

If the file is unpacked ? Most of the trackers use unpacked torrents.

Yes, file are unpacked. Havent tried with packed files, but i don't think it will be different. Problem is that there are a lot of files in torrent (or file is big) it download many pieces but don't seems to write them to disk, only to cache, allthough enable write caching is unchecked
