Re: warning from my ISP
You cannot hide anything from your ISP - if you could, it would have various implications concerning illegal content on the internet (and I'm not talking about copyrighted torrents).

Re: warning from my ISP
*Goto utorrent and press CTRL+P
*In the left pane choose Bittorrent
*In Protocol Encryption choose Forced
*Click OK
This should at least make your ISP unaware that you are downloading a movie(they will know that you are downloading "something" using bittorrent protocol however):|

Re: warning from my ISP
Tracker updates aren't encrypted doing that alone.
You have to either use ONLY HTTPS trackers or do tracker updates through a proxy or VPN.
...BUT that will probably have absolutely no effect on how often you get warning/s from your ISP, because they're probably not the ones doing the monitoring. And this method WON'T block them!

Re: warning from my ISP
Oh, the ISP absolutely did not write the letter.
1) they (almost certainly) don't own the copyright and thus can't make any decision of if it was infringing or not.
2) they would be in breach of wiretap laws in most countries if they started monitoring your connection without a court order
3) it's not in your ISP's interests to monitor your connection anyway.
The copyright holder hired a company to monitor swarms. That company spotted your IP and noted the time. They handed it over to the copyright holder. Lawyers for the copyright holder sent it to your ISP, who performed the actions you said.
Incidentally, who is the ISP?

Someone else stated that your ISP is probably not the one monitoring your activities and they are 100% correct. Your ISP disconnected or warned you by letter because THEY were notified by a copywrite holder that you were downloading their copywrite product via their (your ISP) service. I had my ISP notify me within 2 hours of downloading something once so you can see how quickly the process is.
Ever notice when you use torrent programs and look at all the people that are uploading and downloading the torrent in one of the tabs and it shows ther IP addresses? Well I believe the first batch of digits indicates your provider so when they take down the list of IP addresses downloading certain copywrite content they know who exactly to contact and they provide your IP so the ISP can notify you.
They are getting aggressive at this now and while I am sure there are ways to block them from identifying you I would still be very cautious because they more than likely will only warn you one time. When the porn studios are coming out of their caves to protect their content then you know it is time to make careful decisions to keep yourself out of a massive lawsuit.
These copywrite holders also put bait files out on the torrent sites which I believe would hurt their case but someone with law experience would have to chime in on that. The file I was warned about was a single album that I downloaded within less than 45 seconds and when I went to open the files they were not music files but some kind of dummy files that were of an unknown file type. I returned to piratebay to post a comment in the torrent link about it being a fake file and the poster of the file took it down rather quickly after I added my comment.

you should download and install Peerblock found here http://www.peerblock.com/releases
and also Superhide IP which I am sure if you search the Pirate Bay or BTJunkie you will find quite easily, that should hep you a little ![]()

Re: warning from my ISP
No, "they" get your ip from the tracker updates. Unless you're somehow connecting to the internet without using your own connection's ip address...they can get your ip.

Such as a proxy server. There are some free ones out there.... but their performance, reliability and speed is typically rather poor overall. And in most cases do not provide true anonymity.
There are some "Pay" ones out there are rather good though. Good reliability and some do offer very good anonymity. I've gotten similiar speeds running through some of them that match the same speed of my ISP. The companies doing the reporting of IP's to the ISP's would only get some IP address located in China or some other country that does not give a darn about US copyright laws.

thanks for the warning, I received one of these letter not long ago, same exact thing, different file in question and different owner "Fox", was this just a warning or did you have to call them, because I'm freaked out myself, specially because I didn't got the file and when opened and read the letter went to my wireless router logs and spotted somebody that I don't know, so I changed the password right away. would like to hear what happened with you.

Re: warning from my ISP
A VPN is the only sure way not to be seen (but they're not free)... peerblock may block 75-80 percent of suspect IP's... out of that number though many are benign and many more of the "bad ones" are never blocked.
Forced encryption used to work for avoiding throttling, but ISP's are advanced enough now to see right around it if need be, otherwise we would all just enable that. Heard mixed results on BTguard... I know of at least one person who got a love letter while using it.
Best to do what I do... use torrents in a responsible and legal manner at all times:
