Latest beta infinite loop, stuck on 'checking'

As of the latest utorrent build, I have two torrents that are constantly stuck on 'checking' ..
I thought my computer was overheating because it was acting so sluggish,, the mouse moved very erradically and I thought I had catastrophic computer failure. But thank god I tried closing utorrent and all my problems went away. PHEW! Just thought you should know. It causes so much hard disk activity that it cripples your computer, takes forever to do ANYTHING.

I've used utorrent forever and never had a problem til the beta update.
Those settings should be default.
