Force Re-check crashes program

I'm running the most recent version of utorrent (according to the check for updates feature) version 3.1.3. I find that often is will finish downloading a file to 100% then it will say "flushing to disk" and stay that way forever. I have to then stop the file transfer and choose Force re-check from the menu. When I do this completely locks up the program and I have to shut it down using task manager because it does not unfreeze. When I restart the program the recheck is 50/50 whether it does the recheck or just sits there saying "checked 0.0%". It's frustrating because the file should be complete but it just sits there and does nothing and I can not access the download till it completes. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know a fix for this?

I have an anti-malware program and it found nothing, so no malware on my computer, I have no viruses as I have run an anti-virus scan and nothing came up. My firewall is configured to allow utorrent through, and the appropriate ports are open on my router. It wasn't an issue with the previous version of the program but I don't know where to get the older version or how to downgrade and keep my download progress intact. So please can someone help me figure out the problem as to why this new version isn't functioning properly? I'd greatly appreciate it as I have tried other torrent programs and they are all a great deal more complicated plus all my downloads are associated with utorrent and I don't want to lose the progress on them.

Re: Force Re-check crashes program

I've seen mention of flush to disk before but don't recall what about. 3.2 may be worth a go.

If you've never had a problem with Zone Alarm before, you're either blind or out of luck.
Always kill Norton with FIRE, get the Norton Removal Tool.

Re: Force Re-check crashes program

When I run "Check for updates" It says there are no updates available which means I am using the most recent version. There is no 3.2 yet. I went to download the installer to make sure but it downloaded 3.1.3, which is what I have so there must be a problem with it on vista. I don't have a problem with it on my windows 7 laptop, but on my Vista desktop, this problem is recurring, which tells me there is an error in the coding for the latest version for Vista compatibility.

It says there are no updates available which means I am using the most recent version.

Incorrect. We don't put the latest version in that system immediately on release.

If guides ask for info, provide it before I have to ask for it.

Re: Force Re-check crashes program

You are using the latest stable version of utorrent, but there have been plenty of releases of 3.2 beta versions. I would suggest trying the latest one of these as the stable version you are using has had many issues that have been addressed in the beta versions. A bonus is you can even view the files before they are loaded into utorrent.

Re: Force Re-check crashes program

I'm running uTorrent 3.2.1 I am unable to force recheck on a torrent which I have currently downloaded AGAIN. No matter how many times I try to force recheck, it NEVER gets to 100%. I have the torrent in three different locations on my HD. The movie I am trying to share on a private tracker, is also downloaded in three separate locations on my HD.

I have utilized the option to tell uTorrent what folder to download the torrent & movie to. Nothing is working. I have been trying to share this movie download on the private tracker for almost a month now.

Somebody please help!
