Have been testing it for a few days and seems to run ok .
would be nice to choose "download location" on "add torrent" + the ability to move storage.

Well, it's been a long time since the last build.
There's a new 3.0 up, build 27079. Built for Ubuntu 10.10, so it requires openssl 0.9.8.
I'll hopefully have some other platforms up soon.

The 32-bit build works for me on Debian 6.

It was built for 10.10 and not guaranteed to work on other platforms, but it often will. But sometimes your glibc is different and it won't.

For sure. Just posting anecdotal evidence in case anyone else wanders past this thread looking for success stories. (For the curious, at present, I'm running kernel 2.6.32 with glibc 2.11.3.)

FWIW, the WebUI from the other thread still seems to work better than the stock one.

Hello!

I've just installed the current stable version (3.0 build 27079) of uTorrent Server on a Debian Lenny machine. It works great, but in the interface I have very limited options. For example I don't have the possibility to remove a torrent. Right-click on item displays the default browser menu.

Is that intended?
Thanks!

you need to configure your browser to allow context menus to be replaced by javascript.

Can you please provide some more details on this? Where is this option if Firefox / Chrome?

Thanks for the new build, will try it out now smile

Just because I was wondering, here's the news from that rev:

Changes

      □ Added configuration file setting low_cpu
      □ Fixed bug that would accept invalid characters for hexadecimal
representations of integer type values in configuration file
      □ Fixed timestamps in log files to reflect local time
      □ Added configuration file setting localhost_authentication to allow
administrators to override the default system behavior by disabling
authentication for requests originating on the local host
      □ Changed data file list presentation in web UI for current torrent so
that percent done for each data file updates during downloads
      □ Made alignment of advanced options in preferences dialog consistent
        among browsers
      □ Server version information now displays in about box when running IE
      □ Fixed bug where directory tab fields appeared at bottom of preferences
        dialog when re-opened
      □ Fixed bug where OK/Apply/Cancel buttons weren't visible in preferences
        dialog when using Internet Explorer
      □ Added configuration file settings uconnect_enable, uconnect_password,
and uconnect_username for participating in µTorrent Remote
      □ Added validation of proposed values of webui.restrict setting

Known Issues

      □ Guest mode support is broken in the web UI and/or the server
      □ BEP22 isn't supported on POSIX platforms
      □ There's no table of contents in the PDF form of the user manual
      □ Checking for and reporting that product updates are available isn't
        supported yet
      □ The web UI doesn't show an indication when a setting change fails to
apply because the proposed value was invalid
      □ The web UI doesn't show an indicator if the port is blocked by a
        firewall
      □ The web UI doesn't provide control of RSS actions supported by the
        server
      □ The web UI doesn't show status and error messages generated by the
        server

Still same problem with zombies after execution of script on download completion:

ps -A | grep defunct
16099 ?        00:00:00 mail_finish <defunct>

Looks like there is no wait on child process, because mail is always sent

I run my uTorrent server on Ubuntu 11.04 because of Unity.  I am considering XUbuntu 12.04 (64) now because of a light GUI (headless server anyway) and the requirement of the latest uTorrent server .  Anyone with experience on XUbuntu with latest uTorrent server ?

There is no "older" uTorrent version for linux that isn't an alpha or beta.

Actually I'm just as happy as a lark to run Windows utorrent.exe under Wine ... too bad the last release that seems to run properly to some extent is 2.2.1 ... albeit a bit flaky for 12.04 Ubuntu ... too bad that some time could not be spent to make sure at least one of the newer Windows releases can run under Wine. Not that I'm wining mind you ... smile

Minor bug: In RSS Downloader -> Favorites, if you un-check an enable check box in list of favorites, they will be checked when you add a new favorite.  I think other manipulations cause the same effect, but I didn't catalog all of them.

Broken API design, broken UI. I can't imagine it being more than a trivial bug to fix on the backend (API) side. If someone would bother to fix the backend by having it use simple bit twiddling, this would be work just fine without any work on the UI side, and it would continue to work even as new options get exposed.

Re: µTorrent Server 3.0 alpha build 27079 (for Linux) - x86

Is there any chance to rename a torrent? ("more actions" doesn't provide an options like rename). I'm still using version utorrent-server-3.0-ubuntu-10.10-27079 that works fine but too limited options...
Another thing, in firefox with JavaScript enabled under Preferences, right click on a stopped torrent shows me only "force recheck" option and right click on an active torrent shows me only firefox context menu...
Any developer progress on this ?

The private tracker I use requires HTTPS.
Any chance this will be available in the future? near future?

Hi Guys,
i've been using this linux version for some time, without problem.
Now i've changed my p4 motherboard with a Via c3 motherboard, and now the client
doesn't work anymore, giving an Illegal Instruction error.
I've posted the details in the "Troubleshoothing" section.
