uT devs, something that started with uT 3.0, is when "Checking" is running, my computer gets extremely slow. Even the mouse cursor gets lagged. Before uT 3.0, it was fine. I didn't even notice the "Checking" was being executed. Thanks.
now that I have a decent network connection (5mbits/s download speed advertised, which is giving me a max of 594kb/s including overhead) I'm able to asses that uTorrent is working great. it manages the overhead and the limits I set well. overhead, upload and download graphs look consistent.
What's wrong with that overhead? You're downloading at 500-600 KB/sec and that causes ~16 KB/sec upload overhead in ACK packets. That's about 3-4% overhead on the upload side from downloading. It used to be as high as 35%. I'm not saying there's anything wrong I just want to know the overhead nowdays and see if mine is ok!
Please look at the status bar, when we set both "show overhead" and "show speed limit" on. The last few letters of the upload part ends up eaten by the "network ok" icon. Thanks.
Hey guys, When I enable the display of overhead in status bar some text gets cut. Please see: http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/6017/71072814.png Forgot to tell you, for this version I had to update manually.. the auto-update didn't inform me there was a newer beta version available.
Devs chose to make it so. You cannot re-enavked it... People asked for it back' date=' so they will re-instate ii later on (I hope...) . The dotted line - is still overhead.[/quote'] devs "chose" to make it so based on any user feedback? just asking because suddenly removing something users use and are used to is at least strange
why was overhead display removed from the status bar? the current upload speed includes overhead? can I re-enable overhead display on statusbar? thanks.
This release marks the first commercial-imposed "feature" added to uTorrent. This new shitty icon that is shown all times in our bottom-right corner telling we need a stupid BT anti-virus, which we don't; it is just to promote BitDefender which is a paid anti-virus. As TorrentFreak's predicted (well maybe not in 2010 but in 2011 I believe) uTorrent will become resource hog and remove the "a very tiny BT client" tagline. http://torrentfreak.com/five-bittorrent-predictions-for-2010-100101/
I really hope for your own sake that uTorrent will stop having an icon full-time in our view because I need a goddamn BitTorrent anti-virus. STOP forcing us to use stuff that was not needed before.
osmosis: I don't need a BitTorrent program telling me I need anti-virus. I already have Windows for that, and pay for Kaspersky which is the best AV around. uTorrent is for downloading torrents.
Ha, I'm beginning to think TorrentFreak's prediction for 2010 that uTorrent will become a resource hog will be true. (http://torrentfreak.com/five-bittorrent-predictions-for-2010-100101/) Anti-virus for BitTorrent client? "critical layer of protection" geez sounds like tv commercial
"Change: Don't show add torrent dialog by default." I think this is not wise because newbies will click in a torrent file and ask "Nothing happened? I'll just click on it again".
