Switeck
There is nothing to wireshark - that server just stopped accepting connections on August 15..16
-
There are now two counters (both shown in Help > Show Statistics). This comparison error message seems was intentionally left for debugging purposes.

uTorrent does not try to reverse engineer tcpip.sys to find out the system default.
8 is just 80% of the minimum known limit.

Can't connect to open.tracker.thepiratebay.org -- many users are confirming issues so it is not an ISP issue. Can dev and/or mods look at connection tracking issue with open.tracker.thepiratebay.org? thanks.
Not related to any bittorrent client at all. This tracker is just down -> http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=44936#p352948
-
then if i deside to go back to normal and i clear the box with no numbers and click OK the download speed remains the same..
Known as pet peeve of Switeck -> http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=42518
While this behaviour (empty field = "do not change") is helpful when you set properties for several torrents at once.

11962 out.
Which also fixes magnet downloads, thanks.

This new beta won't download magnet links.
Confirmed here, but only for this (build 11903) beta. Previous public beta build (11882) behaves properly.

Ask tracker owner to allow everybody to do manual update "whenever you want".
-
What is the peerid for the beta? I've tried adding -UT181B- to my trackers whitelist with no luck
Could it be that your tracker is just checking against User-Agent and not peer_id?
User-Agent: uTorrent/181B(11903)

--- 2007-11-13: Version 1.8 alpha (build 6104)- Change: allow a manual reannounce every max(60 seconds, min_interval) where min_interval is from the tracker
F1 -> Search -> "Update Tracker"
Update Tracker allows you to perform a manual announce on the selected trackers, assuming the minimum announce interval has passed for the trackers. This option is disabled if 60 seconds have not yet passed since the last time it was used, or if the elapsed time since the last update is less than the minimum interval for every selected tracker. If the condition to be enabled has been satisfied by at least one of the selected trackers, the option will be enabled, but when used, will be invoked only on those trackers that have met the conditions for option to be enabled. -
Now, you could've also been useful and tested before stable.
So true. I was laxed and failed to report in the 1 hour period between the last post-last-RC build and release. That's why I'm now embarrassed and beggin to prolong this last call period next time to 1 week or something

Yep, you just reworded what I've said =) There was no reason to rush release when testing is done mostly by users and especially untill original bugreporter (chupakabra) for the known last release-stopping bug confirmed it was/was not fixed.
For sure this "one leftover bug" is not terrible if comparing with previous 1.x.0 release which was banned on private trackers twice in a row because of some "leftover bugs" slipped into just before the release
--- 2007-07-21: Version 1.7.2 (build 3458)- Fix: Disable Local Peer Discovery for private torrents
--- 2007-07-13: Version 1.7.1 (build 3360)
- Fix: Invalid download amounts being reported to trackers for >4GB torrents

chupakabra
Oh, you already reported this. Both confirmed here. Single-file magnet downloads are now just completely broken :-/
--> Found Bugs » 1.8 Single file magnet URI downloads broken in build 11730 and upwards
Firon
Btw what was the point to rush the release in half an hour after release-stopping bug fixed when you know [1] [2] that this development team constantly fails to do regression tests after pushing new features/bugfixes?

pps. Interesting that web-seeding implementation used in the OpenOffice torrents is not compatible with uTorrent - they provide urls via the sources key (mentioned by DreadWingKnight), while uTorrent seems to support only the url-list convention (GetRight-style).
-
In older versions this change, but now always stays the same address.
Confirmed.
-
What utorrent should do is if no trackers exist, then it should [..]
Exactly that check wouldn't help if private tracker url was not removed but tampered instead.
-
When you edit the tracker list, µTorrent now disconnects (and hopefully reconnects) with peers and seeds on that torrent to prevent ratio cheating problems...which might also cause your ratios to be misreported (for better or worse!) to private trackers.
How would that prevent ratio cheating problems if utorrent doesn't clear the peer list? Quite the contrary µTorrent is an ultimate cheater tool (which was also recently discussed on #utorrent) - one can just remove tracker url and leech the torrent in trackerless mode from the same peers/seeds.
-
they add ver 1.7.2 too.
Ah. Then it cannot be helped so far.
Most probably they mean that behaviour of not including the hashfailed downloads into stats. Follow this thread if interested - http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=264688#p264688
-
siin,
Did you actually read the announcement you've quoted? %)
Due to a bug in µTorrent version 1.7 and in 1.7.1, this client has been banned from the site. Please download 1.7.2 and use that instead.Autoupdating your version of utorrent to 1.7.2 version is enough.
-
Huh. Why *paranoid*? Better call it *greedy* =) And actually a bug - since any kind of discovery except tracker must be disabled for private torrents.
-
bgrace,
But why asking in the "Announcements" thread instead of "Troubleshooting" subforum? =)
Plus similar problems were already discussed several times out there - forum.utorrent.com / Search - system AND path AND specified.
-
p.s. ups, that's actually NOT installer. Now I dig the hype =)
-
Installer can be found here:
http://www.utorrent.com/download.php
And here so far =) At least for the above mentioned 1.7.2
Yet no reason to switch to BitTorrent 6.0 (build 3495) - all the same features except for the "Get Stuff" menu.
1.8.1 Release Candidate 1 (build 12549)

typo in "uncompressed" url - should be /1.8.1/ instead of /beta/
