  1. The slowdown in the 54GL seems to improve when I turn OFF the wireless function. I had set it up to handle one laptop here, using filtering to only allow a certain user (me) with no web encryption. It never showed anything connected when my laptop was off. But I got the strange slowdown and then unresponsivenss after 15 or so hours requiring a reboot. I have not had to reboot when I turned the wireless off. Hmmmm.... I had set the transmit power up to 100... other than that, it was straight up default values for wireless except filtering so only my machine could access it.
  2. Just got the Linksys WRT54GL v 1.1. Flashed it to DD-WRT v23 SP2 (09/15/06) std - build 3932 without problem. I use static IP on my computers on my LAN, with dynamic to WAN as its comcrap. The first thing I noticed was the speed. My pages seemed to appear almost instantly. Wow, I was impressed. Set up uTorrent which went rather smoothly. I don't use Upnp, but use port forwarding for a single port which I set in uTorrent as well to match. Again, no problem, and things seem to work well. Now the problem! The longer I run uTorrent, the slower things get. After many hours (less than 24) the pages start to CRAWL. Then, I have difficulty even accessing the administration pages of the router itself. It sits and sits. I can then turn off the modem, reboot, and things seem fine. I've read about IP connections not being released with the factory BIOS, but I thought flashing DD-WRT would eliminate that. Aparently not, or there is something else going on here. If I check the DD-WRT status page, I notice that the active IP connections count gets near 500. Could this be what is virtually stopping this router from working? This only seems to happen when using uTorrent, as otherwise there is only 50-100 while surfing. What about uTorrent doesn't release these connections? Is there something I have to set in uTorrent? I don't see any setting in DD-WRT pages to allow you to set the time an IP connection is still active. I really like the new router and DD-WRT firmware, but I never had to reboot my old cheap router every 15 hours or so. Any ideas of what to check? Woops... just found the page suggesting adjusting the timeouts in DD-WRT. I set to 200 (from the suggested 300) and will test report back if that helps with the router stopping.
