yes, IMON is disabled. i don't know what happens, but 1.6.1 seems to be working better for me than 1.7.2.

i have a firewall. i use an old sygate pro firewall. in utorrent, i have everything disabled except 'ask tracker for scrape info'.

really? i must not have the japanese fonts installed. but why is the settings.dat in japanese? i can open it in hex workshop fine and read the text, but if i open it in notepad, i see blocks, or japanese fonts. anyway, 1.7.2 froze and disconnected my router from the internet again, so i'm using 1.6.1.

i find that switching between 1.6.1 and 1.7.2 can corrupt your settings.dat file. this caused utorrent to choke my router and disconnect the internet completely.!! i didn't know why this happened at first. i thought i had spyware/malware or even a virus and it was messing up my internet connection. i even re-formatted my whole PC. i first noticed when i opened the settings.dat in notepad and noticed nothing but blocks, then i deleted it to create a brand new settings.dat and noticed there was text in the actual file, and not blocks. so i will be using utorrent 1.7.2 from now on and keep testing this.

i just wanted to say, after i tried eveything mentioned in this thread, all i get is a blank screen in Opera. all the files are in the right place, but i finally figured out that my ipfilter.dat was blocking my localhost and my IP that my router gives me. with opening the ipfilter.dat and editing it with utorrent shut down, fixes everything. so far webui looks great!!!
