  1. I really wonder if people will actually listen... they'll just be like... Oh noes! µTorrent is associated with PeerFactor was once associated with RetSpan! µTorrent is spyware! Funny, µTorrent "going spyware." Talk about getting his facts all twisted. [offtopic]BitComet's fastest by cheating, and even then, if that guy configured µTorrent properly, he'd be getting equivalent speeds. And the open source argument, once again.[/offtopic]
  2. lol no one cares! (jp xD) Mistakes happen on the changelog, no one really pays attention, since it's just a changelog =P
  3. lol no offense to anyone over at the Slyck forums, but fa really sounds a lot of them... And having Microsoft on the list? Wee we'll just block Microsoft so that people can't get Windows Update! And then EVERYONE will be safe! Again with the source code crap too. Cute, real cute. What's interesting? Well gee, talk about hypocritical, yet again.
  4. ? Did you get the wrong thread (meaning to post in this thread)?
  5. I won't argue about anything you said. But about the paranoia thing, if anti-P2P is such a big deal, then maybe P2P just isn't for you. It's the risk anyone has to take when using P2P. Same goes with the Internet itself. I agree, maybe may be a bit too naive and trusting, but at least I won't be jumping to as many incorrect conclusions because of it either.
  6. The sensationalist news sites will probably spread word on this... I saw it on digg.com already. Doesn't look like the commenters really cared much. I'm not sure about the rest of the people though. In the end, I don't think many trackers (if any) banned the mainline client, so I doubt something that extreme would happen...
  7. @juniorx: LokiTorrent had to release the IPs. Lawsuit? Yep. Anyway, best of luck to you too... there are plenty of other clients out there, so maybe you'll find something you like (almost) as much as µTorrent ;P @AntiLeech: I see that point of view, but frankly, it's not the same situation. ludde isn't working for the company. End of story for that argument about Firon. And so what if ludde's helping someone implement an authorized distribution system? I don't see the big deal, and it would help them at least begin to embrase the P2P philosophy. And no, it's not blind zealotry and idolatry. It's just a different outlook that's a lot less filled with paranoia. What people should be afraid of is PeerFactor itself, and Smoovious brought up that point, that maybe this whole controversy was their aim in the first place. Looks like it's working. In the end, I trust that ludde won't be doing anything that those people at the Slyck forums are accusing him of doing ("playing on the other side?" Please ).
  8. Yes indeed, and that's exactly what I told him. Honestly, he has absolutely no right to be talking about someone's morality when he himself is immoral in one way or another. Big hypocrite, and I think I'm just about through arguing with him on that forum.
  9. lol sorry for causing a tangent... I'll just *try* to end this tangent I started with this post. Sorry for making it sound like a big deal, boo, that wasn't my intention -- just pointing it out =]
  10. As I linked to already... O.o
  11. I get this slight feeling that the people's reactions at the Slyck forums reflect how the general population is going to react as well when word gets out on the general news sites.
  12. http://www.slyck.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=269971#269971 lmao I addressed those people calling for the open sourcing of µTorrent just because of this incident. Someone (who deleted his post) was saying like... "most applications should be open source." My reaction (further down) was like... WTF?? (though I didn't actually write it) xD Edit: And so ludde speaks... not like his priorities weren't clear enough already (to us anyway)... Edit: lol ludde responded to the open source thing too xD
  13. @boo: Again, Smoovious' post put forth a very plausible explanation for it all, and covers ToM's idea as well -- this whole mistrust of µTorrent may very well have been PeerFactor's original intent. http://www.slyck.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=269964#269964 Edit: Eh this story is definitely taking its toll on the server...
  14. ludde can't. According to Smoovious (in that post I linked to above)...
  15. Smoovious brought up the most logical/plausible point thus far in the Slyck forums.
  16. Meh it wouldn't make a difference even if ludde commented more. These guys' minds already seem pretty set, and they were just waiting for a "crack" in ludde's background to blame him for something.
  17. And so the brilliant minds at the Slyck forums have their party... http://www.slyck.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=20211 Really stupid, in my opinion. I wonder if it's fun being paranoid... after all, everyone seems to be lately. If they can't get over the fact that there are (and always will be) proprietary things, ON TOP of being suspicious about anything proprietary, it honestly is really sad. Red_Blue's especially funny. And I'm sure he has real good moral standings. If he weren't doing something illicit, then what reason does he have to fear the entities he call his "enemy?" So much for his goody-two-shoe front. Edit: And so you don't have any right to be judging ludde's moral character. "Claim?" IANAL' date=' but is it not common sense that giving for free is stealing if the material being "given" doesn't legally belong to the entity doing the giving, or if the entity with legal ownership doesn't give permission? Anyway, that's a different discussion altogether, so I'll just leave it at that.[/quote'] lol seriously, he doesn't turn his friends in, so isn't that morally incorrect, to be an accomplice in theft? Hypocritical... Now I'm not saying he should turn them in, but if he doesn't, then he really shouldn't be talking about morality =T
  18. There's a thread dedicated to that =T
  19. Chill, 1c3d0g, we don't need this to become a flame war... just forget it, I guess.
  20. I'm not likening you to a child. It was just a hypothetical example I picked from out of the air. I could've chosen any other example -- that one was just one that popped into my head at the time. I'm not sure why you're getting offended, but I'm going to drop this convo as you are.
  21. Can you point out where I treated you condescendingly?
  22. No need to double-post. Please. And you raising that point every 5 betas isn't going to help get it out of beta state any faster, so I'm not sure why you're saying you will continue to say it. It's just like a little kid in a car going to an amusement park with his parents and saying "Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" every five minutes. It'll be out when it's done (and they'll be there when they get there in the example I gave). Unless you want a half-baked product (and in the case of the example, stop at a rest-stop rather than the fun fun fun amusement park). Summary: We get the point. Bringing it up over and over won't make it get released any faster.
  23. Hm... that change is a few builds old, but I just thought about it right now, and was wondering... is DHT considered a tracker, and get limited in the same way? And if not, would it be a major issue (for DHT-performance) if the number of connections got limited, or would it just make DHT announces take a little more time to return results?
