what is the point of this logo (as in a site logo, an application icon, a splash screen, etc..)? btw - great software

...here's a cleaner looking one. any input?

first post here's my attempt at a logo. rain... torrential rain ;-) [edit] ... and my second: if anyone wants to mess with the psd files to these i'll email 'em.
