  1. Now that you have started with uTorrent Plus and what not, and are constantly developing a 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4 branch all at once.. Why not simply add a uTorrent Lite, stripping all the nonsense many of us doesn't really care about (anti-virus, streaming, transcoding / converting and all other things not directly related to actually downloading and uploading using the torrent protocol..)

Having a dedicated branch trimming away all the fat and only focusing on what a torrent client is really all about, getting the optimum performance out of our torrents with the lowest system resource footprint.

This is exactly what happened with Nero, in the begging they simply offered a damn awesome burning software for Windows.. But from version 5 and onwards they started adding all kinds of nonsense not related to burning at all, making the entire package more clunky, less stable and over all a much worse package for those whom was simply asking for their damn burning software and not all the other nonsense.. Luckily the community provided us with illegal "Nero Lite" versions providing us with only the burning software, which was exactly what we was after all along..

This is how I feel about uTorrent, now it's more about adding all kinds of "new features" which have nothing to do with actual torrenttransfers at all.. As I'm not liking this development I will continue to stick with the oldest version currently supported by the trackers I use, which currently is v2.0.4.

    EDIT:

And how come 3.2.3 adds support for Windows 8? What is this supposed to mean exactly? It's not like running v2.0.4 (like I do) on both my Windows 8 systems and one Windows Server 2012 (Windows 8 Server) is providing me with any issues of any sort.

Neither do I have any kinds of problem with magnet links of any sort.

We are thinking about releasing something like this.

    Soon.

  2. -2013-01-03: Version 3.3 beta (build 28854)

    - Fix: Filter torrents immediately after we switch searchbox to "filtering" mode

Still Doesn't work :( It surly can be improved :)

    - Filter when switching the "mode" back

    - Actually' date=' just execute external search / filter as soon as you *select* a menu item . Clicking the icon is an extra action now, which is not required, unluess you just change the search string . This is how search worked before

    - put this "filter" menu item - as the first item, not waaaaay down as the last one ...

    Thanks, Rafi.

We put the line in the changelog, but released the build that did not have that change in yet.

    Problem of too many cooks.

Let me know what you think after the next release.

I will look into re-adding the functionality to search as soon as you change the provider

  3. I tried having them right next to each other and it looks a bit ugly.

So don't do that... Separate the two' date=' at different sides. You can make it show up/close *only* if a user presses control-F ... or always show it... with an UI option, so if you feel it is ugly - always hide it ...

To me - it is uglier where it is right now...

    That looks kinda nice!

I'll send your pic to the designers.

  4. Lets just say they will stay separate for the foreseeable future roll

OK. So how bout a second edit box in that position (right to the toll-bar)? with proper history and so on ? As you should do for the web search ?... ;P

I tried having them right next to each other and it looks a bit ugly.

About history - we are thinking about creating something like a filters tab, similar to labels, but are stored when you hit enter maybe..

  5. Well done gals and guys on the dev team.

Updated to build 28012 this morning and for the first time in a couple of years I've had to limit the global upload and download rates to allow browsing to run smoothly.

Hmm.. I haven't noticed any change in the code.

If you get a chance to switch to another build, do let us know if it goes away so we can know to fix it - or keep it.

  6. What happened between build 28008 and 28012?

Also, upgrading from 28008 to 28012 causes the setup window to show, so it's still partially not working properly.

When did the Twitter/Facebook icons appear on the status bar, any why can't they be disabled?

One of the crash fixes we made this afternoon was causing even more crashes in its first hour after release. We decided to re-release since it was a minor change code wise. Nothing noteworthy to log.

I did not see the setup window show up while upgrading. Are you talking about the uTorrent Setup Guide (Bandwidth/Network) window or the installation window? Have you seen this before?

The FB/Twitter stuff came in a build ago. We are still working out the details, so feel free to share your thoughts. Right now it goes away, permanently, after you click them - you can see some pics of the office.

  7. Ever since 3.1' date=' uTorrent has shown the uTorrent installation window when starting the client from a drive other than C.[/quote']

    Please try build 28007.

I would but that build isn't available.

The latest build is now 28012. It takes a little while to 'permeate' through the interwebs, but you should see it soon.

Notably, we moved the ability to disable/enable offers to the regular advanced settings.

  8. This bug is a MUST FIX. Why' date=' I said in my first posts about it. :P

Simply µTorrent didn't respect settings for 'all' torrents downloaded from magnet links.

    [..']

Confirm, when I start a magnet file download, the file is downloaded straight to the desktop folder regardless of the settings. It started a couple of BETAs ago.. :\

We attempted a fix for this bug in 3.2.1 beta 6 (will be released shortly).

Let us know if you are still experiencing related issues.

Thank you for the input :D

  9. If you ask me - It looks just awkward and none-standard:(

Also, you didn't fix my issue :P I am telling you I have a bad feeling about what you'll find when checking the issue with my multi-files-test-torrent (including a 2g+ file) that caused both 100% disk-overload plus stopped downloading :(

More reporting similar issue - in here:

    Will look into that soon

  10. We fixed some of your issues with Minimize!

    1. Look in Preferences > UI Settings, for starting uT Minimized on windows startup. It works as requested now! :D

    2. We fixed /MINIMIZED, so that when uT is started from cmd line with that option, we start utorrent minimized. (This is the only way to start ut minimized, without windows restart that is)

  11. Sorry, we didn't explain this change well. I'll try to explain here and we'll make a word change for this setting as well. Under Preferences/General there's a box called Minimize at system start that we will now call Minimize at Windows start. The change in wording reflects the respective change in function.

You can call it whatever you want, but it just doesn't work. Every time I turn on computer it opens maximized (well not maximized but a little bigger, upper edge is slightly out of monitor), and it annoys me a lot.

Please fix it as fast as you can. Version 2.x works well.

Hi BojanKing, what you are saying is correct, minimize on system start is working, so that you are certainly not maximized when you start windows, as you mentioned ("upper edge is slightly out of monitor"). The only thing left to do is to check the box that says "minimize to system tray". Its 2 settings to get this done correctly. We are currently working out the semantics for these kinds and related operations.
