  1. µTorrent 3.3 alpha (27184): I might be wrong, but I understand that the 3.3 has a build numbering chain that is completely separate from 3.2 and 3.1. Having a lower build number than the concurrent 3.2 beta does not mean that the 3.3 alpha is behind in development terms. I think the builds and improvements have been coming out at a commendable rate.
  2. 27026 is actually posted under the wrong title of the older 27020. The thread itself still announces it as 27020. I have downloaded it. It installed as 27026 and seems to be working well at the moment.
  3. @DeathStalker#225 Go to the "Start" screen in Windows 8 CP. Scroll right until you see the small tiles for your installed programs. I have found 27 small tiles related to individual sub-programs or modules in the TuneUp Utilities group !!! If you click on the small tile for "TuneUp Utilities Program Deactivator", it will open the "Program Deactivator" screen in the Desktop Screen. You will see "slider buttons" that could help you "Enable" or "Disable" individual programs provided that the "slider buttons" are not greyed out (programs that are either "Impactless" or "Required by system" are greyed out and you cannot change them). Using this "Program Deactivator" correctly could prevent crashes and, more importantly, reduce your "LOAD POINTS" dramatically and make your system much faster.
  4. jonnyboy.smith: There is a x64 uTorrent version and you could read about it and download it from http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=93984 You should notice that x64 is "experimental" and that the thread has been closed because the x64 version is "unsupported" as Firon stated in his last post. The current beta version of the x32 works very nicely in Win7 x64 for "inexperienced" mortals like us !!! Thanks to evocator for noticing the mistake, my apologies. I have edited with the correct url above.
  5. I have found the cause of the problem I reported above yesterday (#202). It was certainly caused by TuneUp Utilities 2012. This nice utility integrates itself with Windows 8 Consumer Preview x64 and has a new "Program Deactivator". This "Program Deactivator" gives you the choice to either "Enable" or "Disable" any of your installed programs. It actually works very nicely and retrieves valuable CPU and RAM usage by preventing the "Disabled" programs from loading at Windows start up and also by "Deactivating" the program after you close it. So far so good. But if you "Enable" uTorrent permanently, this happens by default if you check "Start uTorrent when Windows starts", TuneUp Utilities' "Program Deactivator" will not allow you to completely "Exit" uTorrent !!!; it will be kept running as a "Background Process" and this will prevent you from either starting uTorrent again (because it is still running in the background) or exiting uTorrent (because you cannot see it's Icon in the Notification Area). The only way around this will be to either force-Exit uTorrent by clicking "End Task" in "Task Manager" and / or rebooting your system and this will inevitably cause uTorrent to crash and then "Check" the active torrents when you re-start it again (this could be very unpleasant if it takes hours). The answer to this problem turned out to be very simple: “Permanently Disable” uTorrent in TuneUp Utilities’ “Program Deactivator”; when you “Exit” uTorrent it will terminate its “Background Process” in Windows Task Manager after a few seconds and then you will be able to start uTorrent again manually or automatically when Windows starts. I must add that I am getting more used to the quirks of Windows 8 CP x64 and find it more stable and faster than Windows 7 x64. Pre-installation check showed no conflict with uTorrent x32 (3.2 beta build 26934) or any other programs and all have actually been running very well indeed. The minor bug in the new TuneUp Utilities 2012 is easily avoided and leaves you with a very nice utility program.
  6. Thanks Rafi. I am not sure if it would be Win8, because so far I have found it much faster and more stable than Win7. Also I had no similar problems with other programs or with previous versions of uTorrent. On another note: [Can anyone verify if Right-Clicking a Column on the Lower Pane & Selecting "Reset" ALWAYS CRASHES uTorrent 3.2 Beta (build 26934) w/ a crash dump file? Thanks!] I have just tried Right-Clicking columns in the Lower Pane and then selected "Reset" twice. It worked without crashing.
  7. Every time I right-click the uTorrent (3.2 Beta x32 Build 26934) icon and then click "Exit", uTorrent crashes. Then it keeps showing as a "Background Process" in Task Manager (Windows 8 Consumer Preview). Double-clicking the uTorrent Desktop icon does not start the program, only rebooting Win8 does. Then uTorrent "Checks" all/most of the active downloads. Crash Dump fails to be sent to developers. Can this be explained or corrected?
  8. I have been updating regularly and 19702 seems to have solved the problems with memory and disk usage. Many thanks. However, I have been having problems with Microsoft ISATAP Driver & IPv6/Teredo. The services can not start and Device Manager persistently shows ! opposite them. I tried re-installing the drivers many times but the problem persists. I accidentally unistalled the IPv6 from Device Manager and could not re-instal it from uTorrent. My download rates have deteriorated very markedly. Any advice, please?
  9. I have been having the high memory consumption problems with 2.1 alpha build 18959, up to 1.5GB out of 4GB total. I use Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. The problem happend regularly rendering uTorrent unresponsive to End Process through Task Manager. On a few occasions it caused windows fail to Restart or Shut Down. uTorrent itself tries to send a crash dump everytime windows is re/booted but it always fails to send the report. Now I have updated to build 19225, the crashes have increased with the usual re-check and data loss. uTorrent is still unable to send the crash report. Any suggestions? Thanks.
  10. I hope this thread is not strictly about uTorrent 2.0.1. If it is, please accept my apologies. On a few occasions my PC failed to connect to the internet, troubleshooting suggesting DNS or ISP failures. I am not sure if this was related to utorrent. I have read Firon's comments about malware and antimalware & firewall problems. I am not sure this problem applies to my system. I have avast! and Microsoft Security Essentials, PCTool's Spyware Doctor and SUPERantispyware with Windows 7 Firewall and the D-Link router NAT/Firewall. I do not think they cause any conflicts or have any related bugs. I am now trying [Turn on "Disable Windows caching of disk reads."] as Firon suggested. I hope this will solve the memory and crashing problems. If I need to send the uTorrent crash reports manually, could you please, Firon, tell me how to send them to you reliably.
  11. Many thanks. After several re-downloads it finally worked this time.
  12. utorrent-2.1-beta-18069.upx is running well on Windows 7 Ultimate x64bit; except for occasional disappearance of the torrent list, I easily get it back by selecting 'Downloading' then 'All'. The problem now is that subsequent updates could not be installed. I get a message saying that 'utorrent-2.1-beta-18304.upx' or 'utorrent-2.1-beta-18429.upx' is "not a valid Win32 application". Is there a solution to this problem? Thank you.
