  1. Sorry to hear that thunderStorm. I must confess that I've been having so much trouble with uTorrent recently that after 10+ years, I have decided to move to qBittorrent (also my torrent source site recommended that I downgrade uTorrent to 221 due to tracker problems ...). With the right tools, it took me about ten minutes to make the move - all 1266 torrents - and it has been running perfectly for the past 6 days! Still have some 45 torrents that can't be checked due to a lack of seeders, but sometimes life sucks ... I'm not trying to convert you, but there comes a point when it's time to part ways ... Also, it's truly FREE - NO ads!!
  2. Hi thunderStorm. I eventually found that all my torrents are still there in the uTorrent folder! It's just that uTorrent has lost track of where they are. The solution, while not perfect - you can't just say reload them all, is fairly straightforward. In uTorrent go to the File menu and choose the first option - Add Torrent ... You should then be taken to the uTorrent folder (or navigate to it) and you can select one or more torrent to reload. uTorrent will try to reload the files and it LOOKS like it's going to download them but it is just checking that the file(s) you have are complete. It apparently does this by 'downloading' them again but doesn't actually download them - I assume that it's checking check digits or something. Once the 'download' is complete your torrents are back online. You can select one or more torrents to reload and I was working on 100+ at a time (nearly 1300 in my archive). The big problem that I had/have is that there are still 46 torrents that can't be checked after 3/4 months because there are no other seeders ... and they are the really old ones (or the oddball ones) ... Good luck.
  3. Thanks, raddyst. Yes - attachments to posts on the utorrent forum. I currently can only attach a file of max 3.09 kB, which is useless. How do I clean up this limit?
  4. I posted this to Synx a couple of years ago but have received no reply ... I'm hoping that a general post might get me a better response Hi Synx I ran into a problem today when trying to post a couple of graphics - I have run out of my 500Mb of space for attachments As the previous posts which contained attachments were back in 2016 and are now out of date, just how do I go about deleting them or otherwise removing them from my upload limit? I'm sure there is probably somewhere that tells me how but I haven't found it ... Cheers flashfletch
  5. Great! That works for me! I'm using a version created by raffi (?) some time ago ... maybe that explains the lack of functional F1??
  6. Hmmm ... All I get when I press F1 is : (Sorry the image is so poor but I had to reduce it to get under the 3Kb limit - now that I'm editing the post the image won't show at all!??) I save it and then try to open it and get the same response with multiple versions ... grrr! But thanks for the listing. Interestingly, my version of utorrent simply shows words in the cell with a background color.
  7. I know that this should be plain as my nose ... and I'm sure that I have found it before but I just can't find where the meanings of the various colors and labels of the 'status' column in my torrent list are explained. I have had a problem where I lost ALL my torrents from uTorrent (files are still there and torrents are still there) from 3.5.5. I am now reloading them but have some that after checking show up as light green 'seeding', others as red 'seeding', and so on ... Would someone take pity on a poor 70+ yo and point me to where I can find this information so that I can see what, if anything, I can do about it? flashfletch
  8. Running 3.5.5 46038 with LAA flag (Rafi's version from 2021) on Win 10 fully updated. Recently I wanted to back up all my torrents (1200+) to a portable drive but ran into errors reading some files. Along with other things (like trying again) I ran chkdsk X: /f on the drive ... Since then utorrent doesn't find ANY torrents on the designated drive although all the data appears to be there. utorrent will still download and seed the single torrent I have tried since then, so utorrent itself seems OK. How do I remount the MANY torrents I currently have sitting there doing nothing without handling each one individually? If there's somewhere here that explains it (in simple words) I'm happy to try to follow it but I've tried all the search terms I can think of with the only hint being that someone had trouble after a defrag ...
  9. I couldn't include this with my last post ... And still can't How do I remove attachments from OLD (2016) posts??
  10. Hi rafi Sorry, been busy - here's the Disc cache window as requested ... As for my other question which is now even more important ... I have downloaded your uTorrent with LAA flag but I have a concern about simply installing it. Will this recreate the utorrent directory (and so wipe all my current torrents)? Or does it simply replace uTorrent.exe and keep everything else the same? I worry as I had an 'update' that came through a few years ago and then caused problems for me activating torrent files. I had to downgrade to an earlier version and when I did it caused many of my completed torrents to restart from 0%. Last question (I hope) - for quite some time now I have not been able to get any sensible response from the uTorrent Setup Guide that tests bandwidth and network settings. That button (bottom right of window) will variously show green/yellow/red. I used to use it a lot to make sure that I actually had an active connection but now it never connects to a 'test location' and the Network test always fails with 'Port is not open' yet I can still download AND seed with no apparent problem. I have a set port which has access through my firewall (assuming I actually know what I'm doing ...) (I use Private Internet Access as my VPN and usually link through Toronto) Has the Setup Guide been discontinued but not removed? Or is it probably a wrinkle due to my system and settings? Thanks flashfletch100
  11. Hi torrenters I have been using utorrent for 10+ years on a number of different installations (from win 7 to 10 - fully updated) and been really happy with it most of the time but recently (12 months or so) I have had odd things happening. I have nearly 1200 torrents that I am seeding and leave my system running constantly. I am now finding that randomly (from a few hours to a week or more, recently it has been much more frequent, hence my request for help) utorrent will stop responding and the only way I can get it back is to use Task Manager to stop it. Alternatively, when I come back to the computer after a period of inactivity it will either appear to wake up and allow me to open a window then freeze with the only option to do a hard restart, or I can't even get the system to wake with a half dozen or so mouse clicks and then a 'squeak' (buffer full??) and a hard restart. I can't even use crtl-alt-del to access the power option and do a restart/shutdown - they both hang. I am running the system now without utorrent and there appears to be no problem (but I will give it some more time to be sure) ... still no problem after 24 hours or so. Any suggestions? I have thought of simply uninstalling utorrent and reinstalling a fresh version, but I don't want to have to restart/stop 1200 torrents ... Edit: It also appears that there is some kind of memory leak with my current utorrent iteration. With utorrent running memory usage on my system climbs from ~50% to 75+% over two or three days (if my system remains usable for that long). Without utorrent running, memory usage has risen from 41% to 43% over the last 48 hours ... flashfletch100
