  1. Think what you want, I know what I did. I just don't suffer fools gladly. I suspect a sockpuppet.
  2. After reading your first paragraph I stopped. You've sure shown your ignorance, bias and why no one should read or believe your posts. P.S. On my system a skipped 1.09G file takes up a whopping 600K, not 600M.
  3. I have just re-downloaded the Ver 3.12 Build 26773 and I can assure that is identical to the one I downloaded of Version 3.12 Build 26729. is byte identical. I have several programmes that can doi this and they all give the same result.. No-one has yet addressed this very real issue. Unless the setup programme now downloads the its that changed from that Version from an online source. I have not run this new programme but keep a history of all the various releases. I am not just talking that the Version 3.12 build 26773 executable has the Version 3.12 Build 26729 stamp on it but that is is very much identical byte by byte to the Build stated above. ? 4. Case in point, this is crap, you don't need to waste diskspace or time, you can if you want by messing with the advanced settings. But just because there's a file on your disk that says that it's 1G doesn't mean it takes that much disk space. Further by using the option which allows a different extension until a down load is complete you won't be confused by the "edges" of files that have to be downloaded when you select to skip some files.
  5. Yep, most of the complaining posts are from posters who haven't read the manual, FAQ or done a search (no matter what those posters say.) Another class of people play with settings with no idea what they do (or worse they think they know what they do and are wrong.) Then they complain when they themselves cause their own problems: the advanced options say keepa-you-hands-off for a reason. I've run essentially every version of uTorrent in the 3.0, 3.0.1 and 3.0.2 series and have encountered most of the disk caching, files not moving, speed, etc. problems that people have been complaining about and with (obvious to me) debugging techniques and a little searching I could always get uTorrent to work correctly enough to do what I need. In my reports I've been trying to help, not solve a problem that was stopping me. I can’t believe the number of people spreading FUD, some of them are obviously malicious, but most are simply arrogant. Conversely the staff and some experienced users are quite helpful, but rarely get the information needed to debug poster's problems.
  6. Just a stab in the dark: perhaps you are the victim of a DOS attack. If I ever, even just for a few moments don't have protocol encryption set to Forced I get symptoms very similar to yours, and addition no computer in the house can get to the net.
  7. Tho the change log says: "-- 2011-12-06: Version 3.1 RC8 (build 26573)" the download link gives a the RC7 utorrent-3.1-latest.exe file build number 3.1.0.26563
  8. There was a real problem' date=' and could be at least one other, but I can tell you for certain that you won't be able to get pieces from the ted webseeds i looked at. It's possible that this is exacerbated by attempts in endgame mode to use multiple sources for the last few pieces. In any case, a ted torrent is a bad test case and doesn't show us anything.[/quote'] Thanks for checking that. Indeed when I look at a successful download I have a different file name and size than one that gets hash errors, so the problem must be the TED app, the TED RSS feed or the TED server. FWIW they always fail very near the beginning and they only have one file in the torrent. By queing them again they often (but not always) work. I didn't have any problem with hundreds of them for the first week or so but now they fail a lot. I reported it earlier but no one responded and I've been trying the release candidates in hopes that it will get fixed. But now I know better

  10. I'm new to uTorrent but a possibility might be a DOS attack when you announce your computer by using a torrent program: If I ever turn off Protocol Encryption within a matter of moments my router gets flooded to essentially uselessness until five or so minutes after I stop uTorrent and reboot the router or at least change the open UPnP'ed incomming connection port. With forced protocol encryption I'm fine. FWIW I'm on Win 7 64-bit with the latest updates.
  11. Just FWIW: The hashfails I was running into do seem to be fixed. Like others have reported my Details pane doesn't seem to refresh. (utorrent-3.1-26545 on Win 7 64-bit) [Edit] I spoke too soon: Tho things were working great ealier this morning, now I'm back to hashfails which ban the only seed of the TED talks torrents. Also tho earlier the write disk cache seemed to be nominally working (e.g. tho there were 40 - 70 writes a second to the cache there were only 4 or so writes a second to the disk.) Now I'm getting essentially the same number of writes / second to the cache and to the disk. Before any of the 3.1 betas I only got writes to the disk every 5 seconds or so whether or not I disabled the OS's disk cacheing. With any of the 3.1 betas the disk gets written to often no matter what.
