    3.5.x Beta

I don't recall this having happened before - I've been running beta versions for several years, and always manually performed updates. The first I knew of this was when the web browser screen told me I had been updated. Can you advise when the auto updates were enabled in code?

    3.5.x Beta

Build 46346 - came to the computer to find uTorrent had updated. Looking through preferences I see it is configured to 'Automatically install updates' and 'Update to beta versions' is also checked. However, both are greyed out. I have never chosen to automatically install any updates. How do I clear this?

I've not seen that issue for a looong time. Not going to tell you how to run software (you've probably got more experience of that than I have) but have you tried a new, clean install?

    3.5.x Beta

After getting thoroughly fed up with all sorts of GUI issues, I *completely* gutted the entire install, all settings, everything. Then ran the install version of 46298. No fancy tweaks or anything - let the ads go through. And... It works. Gathered 21 torrents, loaded them simultaneously into uTorrent, and It. Just. Works. I'm not a 'power user' or similar so this is good enough for me.

    3.5.x Beta

Something very odd going on. Now running 46298. Having got a couple of torrents downloading, they completed. I selected both torrents, right-click and select 'Remove torrent'. The dialog box appears -"Are you sure you want to remove the 2 selected torrens?" Click OK, and... Nothing. The dialog box is still there. A few more attempts and it eventually clears. Trying to close uTorrent also causes problems. No Alt-menu this time, just a mouse click on File and Exit. Do I wish to exit? Yes. Nothing. 7 or 8 more clicks and finally uTorrent closes. There's no issue with any other application. I'll see if a complete removal and clean reinstallation helps.

    3.5.x Beta

Just checked my install - 46286 (downloaded from the link posted last week.) I didn't know 46298 was out. I'll try that.

    3.5.x Beta

Download a .torrent file from your favourite torrent search engine. Download a few more. Find them in Windows Explorer. Select all the .torrent files. (They are usual 10k - 20kb in size.) Press enter to open them all at the same time. You can do the same thing with multiple .jpg files - they will all open in the native application at once. I've not had an issue with the 'Alt-' menu shortcuts before. In fact, I have rarely had a significant problem of any sort.

    3.5.x Beta

Today I am having problems. Selected a dozen or so magnets. They open in uTorrent and typically the dialog box populates after 5 seconds to a minute or so. (Some take longer, some are instant.) That's all normal. But I am unable to start the download process. I click on the 'OK' box, and while the button shows being pressed, nothing happens. I'm unable to select/deselect individual files, and cannot edit the folder name. The 'Cancel' button does not work, and neither does the 'X' in the top right corner of the dialog box. I can close uTorrent by right-clicking the icon in the system tray, but the dialog boxes persist for some time. Edit 1: Reopening uTorrent shows the magnets are now in the Labels > Hidden area; all are Stopped and they will not start. So, I have deleted these torrents, and downloaded .torrent files. If I select a single fie, it opens and can be manipulated as usual. However, if I select multiple .torrent files and open them all, I have the same issue experienced before. Edit 2: And now I find that using 'Alt-F', 'X' to close uTorrent didn't work. I was able to using the 'File' menu to select Exit.

    3.5.x Beta

This time was a bit different. I'd been running 46248 without installing it, following a computer rebuild - as an almost portable implementation. It had the settings stored, of course. I was lazy with the new version and just ran it as a installer, then deleted the old files.

    3.5.x Beta

I had shutdown issues before, but not now. That said, this is an almost 'clean' install - no issues with 40+ torrents. I'd not have said the previous versions had any GUI issues, but it feels smoother now.

Yep - this is a good one.

    3.5.x Beta

I'm not having any issues at all (so far). 46248 would occasionally lock-up for me, requiring Task Manager to force a shutdown. 46286 hasn't (yet) done that. And it closes, for me, as I'd expect - quickly and cleanly. Edit: The whole experience feels more 'slick'.

    3.5.x Beta

I thought of that. 6 active torrents, but 20 allowed. I checked active upload/download settings, bandwidth, and so on. If I have exceeded max active torrents in the past, I've normally (I think) been able to 'Force Start' a further torrent, and the application stops processing a previously active one. I even wondered if it was a 'feature' that came up when there where no peers available, but that doesn't appear to be the case either - one stopped torrent had 6 peers and2 seeds.

    3.5.x Beta

I've recently had issues with torrents that come up as 'Stopped' and there is nothing I can do to start them. Then they'll start of their own accord a while later. Not seen that before, after years of using uTorrent.

If a check of (any of) the torrents you have is required, that's actually pretty quick.

    3.5.x Beta

I've used an online BEncode editor - https://chocobo1.github.io/bencode_online/ . I quickly found the install_revision key - this was correctly set. I do not have a webui.version key in the settings.dat. It's the first time I have gone through the settings.dat file. There's a *lot* of 'interesting' stuff in there.

    3.5.x Beta

I'm getting some interesting errors as a result of the changes I made. Or tried to make. I have a Quick Start icon for uTorrent that I use - I don't start automatically at Windows startup. Clicking on it now also produces a warning message - "A newer version of uTorrent, 3.5.5 build 46026 is already installed. Would you like to downgrade to 3.5.5 build 46196?" IIRC, my most recent (previous) build was higher than 46196 !

    3.5.x Beta

Been trying to try 46206. Downloaded, ran installer. "A new version is already installed." OK forget it, not got time to play at the moment. Ever since, opening uTorrent tells me a newer version is already running (! It isn't) and clicking on a Magnet link does the same (when uTorrent is running) and invites me to "Shut down uTorrent and try again." uTorrent itself says I am running 46026. I suspect the only option is to uninstall, clean the registry, and start over.

    3.5.x Beta

Free software lacks the financial incentive for development. Throw in that the product already works well, and regular betas aren't as important as perhaps they once were.

I wondered why the file sizes different... The first file appears to be build 46036, while the second is 46074. Both are the 'big' files at 5Mb or so.
  24. No - it is not. A torrent loads and displays (or if using a Magnet, loads, typically waits, then displays) and the 'Start torrent ' box is ticked. Sometimes I will deselect some files if I don't want to download them. However, it requires me to manually start the torrent before any connection or download commences. Once that has happened, I very rarely make any changes to what is being downloaded.
  25. Got it again. Almost identical situation, only this time uTorrent got to displaying 'Flushing to disk' before reverting to 99.8%, 99.9% 'Flushing to disk', and so on. Again - stopped the torrent, forced recheck, but this time it still won't complete. There are files within the torrent that I chose to not download, but that was before starting the download. Since the download has been running, there have been no changes to this torrent.
