  1. re:  ...not creating the subdirectories...

I also saw this behaviour last week, I thought it was a malformed .torrent file.  I discarded the job and its resume.dat and retried the .torrent again, same thing.  So I repeated plus restored a settings.dat from a week earlier also and restarted, problem gone.  Don't know what was wrong but that fixed it.

Always keep a backup of your settings.dat just in case...I back mine up weekly usually, and ALWAYS before doing an "update" to a new version.

    re:  staying with 3.5.5....

I too find the last 3.5.5 to be just fine for my needs.  If and when 3.6.0 gets a clean report card [here] then I'll move forward.  And the guys still running 2.2.1 are happy, so good for them...old saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it" applies pretty often...;)

  3. off topic, but devs should know the answer:  where can I find the algo used to obfuscate the filenames inside the info dictionary of a .torrent file?  [This happens when you do File | Create New Torrent... and check the "create encrypted" box].

I know I have read it somewhere, but can't find it now.  It shd be in a BEP somewhere...

Also, why is this algo non-repeatable?  If you recreate the identical package then the hashid is still different because the obfuscated names are different.   By design I assume, but why?    Just wondering...thanks.

[one hour later...]  oops, I get it now, duh.  Dumb question.   Still can't find the right BEP tho...

  4. I won't swear that this works, but these are the ut-sites I have in my hosts file:

    0.0.0.0 update.bittorrent.com
    0.0.0.0 ads.bittorrent.com
    0.0.0.0 ap.bittorrent.com
    0.0.0.0 apps.bittorrent.com
    0.0.0.0 beta.bundles.bittorrent.com
    0.0.0.0 btinstall-artifacts.bittorrent.com
    0.0.0.0 bundles.bittorrent.com
    0.0.0.0 cdn.ap.bittorrent.com
    0.0.0.0 engine.ap.bittorrent.com
    0.0.0.0 offer.bittorrent.com
    0.0.0.0 offers.bittorrent.com
    0.0.0.0 offers-i.bittorrent.com
    0.0.0.0 pr.apps.bittorrent.com
    0.0.0.0 services.bittorrent.com
    0.0.0.0 static.ap.bittorrent.com
    0.0.0.0 update.utorrent.com
    0.0.0.0 update.utorrent.li
    0.0.0.0 utorrent.inspsearch.com
    0.0.0.0 raptor.utorrent.com
    0.0.0.0 remote.utorrent.com
    0.0.0.0 bench.utorrent.com
    0.0.0.0 download3.utorrent.com

and FWIW, I find that 3.5.5.46552 still works very well without any grief.

.46606 is supposed to be identical to 46552 but with an added "never update me"  patch.  If you can not find those versions anywhere anymore I can offer them up...

  6. BTW, those 5 dlls  HAVE BEEN  a part of the 3.6.0 distributuon for a while now, I pointed it out so manual installers would take note, not as a complaint.  I'm all for resolving the scalability issues, as are we all...

  7. >> Could you share the dll files names please?

open the installer's  .exe using 7zip, you'll see the dlls when you go into $PLUGINS folder, along with the utorrent.exe:

      bt_channel.dll

      system.dll

       nsdialogs.dll

     INetC.dll

     nsisFirewall.dll

As Joshace said, it could be an attempt at optimizing lib code for their specific uses, to maybe "fix" the "issues" we all seems to notice re: bad scalability,  or perhaps it's a "new feature" we all need to have.

I have not tried to run it.

  8. I have a annomoly to point out,  I have an entry in my peer list for an IP that translates to " hulrom.healthcrunch.pro" and it _DOES_ have a flag, the flag for Chad or code TD.    Don't know how it got that flag but it is displayed.  I assume the reverse-dns lookup must have had the TD code already?   Curious...I thought the "built-in code" only handled the 2-letter contry-code domains.

  9. FWIW, the std beta link today is returning 3.6.0.46790

it is packaged  differently than before and I did not investigate if you need to run it as a true installer or if you can just drop it into place manually [maybe either?].

If you are adventurous let us know...
