thank you firon, that worked! narrowed it down, in 1.4 whenever i change the option of bt.scrape_stopped from the default value (false) to true, utorrent will crash.

any idea why 1.4 crashes as soon as i open it? i run utorrent.exe, see either the speed wizard or a popup msg telling me that utorrent is not currently the default torrent application - before i can do anything else utorrent exits... thanks
