  1. Hellp Rafi, >Does these same files show correctly in 2.2.1 ? Can you give an example of such torrent (link/magnet/screenshot)? Maybe upload the .torrent file itself? It might be corrupted somehow. Yes, all the 23,856 torrents are loaded correctly in version 2.0.1 (build 19248) and all the individual files in those torrent are also loaded correctly. I can open those related individual download files in their respective application also without any issue. I do not think the .torrent file is corrupted otherwise it would not have loaded correctly in the older version 2.0.1 (build 19248) after I reverted back to the older version. #################################################################################### >You can also check the validity of the resume.dat file with BEencode editor -> validate function. Can you guide me on the steps on how to check the validity of the resume.dat file with BEencode editor -> validate function. I am new to this and I do not want to destroy all the 23,856 torrent #################################################################################### >You are welcome to try also with the settings file in my sig (including a lower cache setting). Make sure to save yours first. Do I download this settings.date file from this link -> "My v3.x quick-fix >"Best Practice" settings.dat file< (see tip #O in the thread above)" ####################################################################################
  2. Helo Mike and Rafi, Setup version 3.5.5 46200 yesterday and following is the result (old version is v2.0.1 (build 19248) and new version as recommended by Rafi (i.e. version 3.5.5 4600) :- As per the Task Manage of Windows 7 (64 bit), the older version of uTorrent used to use approx. 1.7GB of memory and newer version 3.5.5 4600 used approx. 3.1 GB of memory (so this point is confirmed that 23,856 torrent require more that 2GB of memory) All the 23,856 torrents were loaded in the older as well as the newer version but loading of 23,856 torrent in the older version was faster (approx. 3 to 5 minutes) as compared to the new version (approx. 10 to 12 minutes) In the newer version, on random checking for the list of files within each of some of the torrents which was loaded after startup, it was found that, in approx. 50% of the torrents, the files detail information that are to be downloaded in that particular torrent were NOT loaded at all (i.e. the torrent was loaded properly, its details like "Name" of the torrent, "Tracker" details, total “Size”, “Selected” size, “Completed” size, “Remaining” size, "Status", "Added" on, "Completed" on etc ... were seen in the main window, but the corresponding files within that particular torrent (whether 1 file or many files to be downloaded in that particular torrent), the information of those files were NOT loaded on startupand therefore even “Force Re-Check” of those torrents whose information were partially loaded, could not be done The older version of uTorrent used to freeze/hang immediately on startup (or after 3 to 5 minutes after startup) and the downloading used to continue in the backend even if the older version is in the frozen/hung state. In the new version, the uTorrent program did not freeze/hang at all (in fact, it ran for the entire night i.e. approx. 8 hours and in the morning, when it was checked, it was still running and the program did not freeze/hang. For testing purpose, it was started with approx. 15 “Active” download and it completed 5 of them) during the night So, it looks like the version 3.5.5. build 46200 takes care of the freezing/hanging issue when the number of torrent are huge, but the other details like, fully loading all the details of the torrents i.e. all the files in that torrent etc …, fast loading of the uTorrent application on startup, still needs to be taken care of. Even if the newer torrent application would take approx. 10 minutes to start, but it should load all the file details properly and correctly, that would also be acceptable as users have collected a huge number of torrents over the years I hope the above information is useful to the technical developers and the issues are fixed. Looking forwarded for a fixed version soon ...
  3. Rafi, Thank you very much. I think I will go ahead and try your suggestion of upgrading to the latest version 3.5.5 46200 which will use the large RAM size of 4GB. Just wanted to know the following is regards to "uTorrent_stable_LAA.zip" which I plan to setup :- 1) After compressing the .zip file, how do I proceed to setup the LAA version without disturbing the existing 23,856 torrents ? Can you give me the detailed steps please ... 2) Is this new version (i.e. uTorrent version 3.5.5 46200), specifically a 64 bit program application (and not 32 bit application) ? 3) The Desktop PC on which this "uTorrent_stable_LAA.zip" will be setup has Windows 7 (64 bit) and 16 GB RAM. The existing version of uTorrent (i.e. uTorrent v2.0.1 (build 19248)) uses approx. 1.7GB of RAM. Will this new version (i.e. uTorrent version 3.5.5 46200) use more than 2 GB of RAM ? 4) Does it mean, that the current uTorrent program (i.e. uTorrent v2.0.1 (build 19248)) was freezing/hanging because of the 32 bit limit of 2 GB of RAM ? Kindly guide ...
  4. All the 23,856 torrent that are loaded in the uTorrent application are in "Stopped" status. Only about 5 or 6 torrents are "Active" in a given point in time. So does it mean that even if the torrents are NOT actively downloading, it still causes system overload ...
  5. So, if even I start using Bittorrent for the same 23,856 torrents and I will have the same freezing/hanging issue, then I think it is no use going to Bittorrent. Then, is there any solution to this issue ... Kindly help.
  6. I don't know if it is right on my part to ask this question here but since I am stuck with this issue with no solution in sight, I will go ahead and ask the question here. How good or bad is the compatibility between uTorrent and Bittorrent. Since utorrent is not starting and holding itself with 23,856 torrents loaded in it, would it be possible to install Bottorrent on the PC and make it work with the 23,856 already loaded torrent of uTorrent. I do not wish to reload all the 23,856 torrent again but can spend a few days "Force Re-Checking" the torrent in BitTorrent. Kindly help.
  7. Hello Mike, I have already tried to upgrade to a newer uTorrent version but the freezing/hanging happens in the newer version also. So, it looks like I am stuck with this issue now.
  8. Hello Mike, I tried your suggestion as follows :- 1) I copied the "uTorrent.exe" file from the "C:\Program Files (x86)\uTorrent" directory into a new directory called "tst" on the Desktop. 2) I copied the "settings.dat" file from the "C:\Users\<userid>\AppData\Roaming" directory into a same directory called "tst" on the Desktop where the "uTorrent.exe" file was copied (as per point number 1 above). I, then started the "uTorrent.exe" file from the "tst" directory on the Desktop. and it been approx. 45 minutes that the uTorrent.exe program is working without freezing/hanging. Just wanted to inform you here that when the program started, none of the torrents are there in the uTorrent window/front-end interface and it is completely empty. So, I guess, it looks like it is the large number of torrent (i.e. 23,856) that is the cause of the problem. So, now looking for the solution :- can I increase the memory allocated to the uTorrent program OR can I make some changes in the configuration of the uTorrent program and check if the situation improves in anyway ... Thank you for your help.
  9. Hello Mike, Thank you for your reply. I will try your suggested steps and will give you a feedback. In the meanwhile :- 1) can you let me know the maximum number of torrents that can be loaded for this version i.e. torrent v.2.0.1 (build 19248) please ... (So that I can remove the unwanted torrents and reduce the number of torrents). 2) is there any way wherein, we can enable or setup the debugger facility or an depth logging facility wherein step by step informational log messages are written to a log file when the uTorrent program executes and we will be able to know the exact cause of the error for its freezing/hanging ... Kindly help ...
  10. Dear All, The configuration of the PC is as follows :- 1) Windows 7 (64 bit) 2) 16 GB RAM 3) core i7-3370 CPU 4) Gigabyte H77M-D3H motherboard (There are 6 SATA ports on the motherboard) 5) uTorrent v2.0.1 (build 19248) 6) This PC has a total of 15 HDD's of various sizes attached to it. 6 HDD's are attached to the 6 SATA ports on the motherboard and the remaining 9 HDD's are attached to the PC through the USB ports. There are 26 partitions across all the HDD's (all 26 alphabets from A to Z have been allotted for different partitions accross all the 15 attached HDD's). There are no CD/DVD drives attached to this system. I have been using uTorrent for the last approx. 12+ years and have collected 23,856 torrents out of which 21,050 are in the "Completed" state and the remaining 2806 are in the "Downloading" state. Since the last 8 to 9 months, whenever the uTorrent v2.0.1 (build 19248) is started in this PC (or within 3 to 5 minutes of starting it), the uTorrent programs just freezes/hangs, but it continues downloading the data at the backend. The PC does not freeze/hang and it continues to work fine. It is only the uTorrent program that freezes/hangs. I, then have to stop the uTorrent by clicking on the "uTorrent" icon on the top left heading bar of uTorrent application window and then on "Close" to forcefully close it and then I restart it again. On restarting it, it sometimes allows me to "Force Re-Check" the torrent but most of the time it freezes or hangs again immediately and then the same procedure of forcefully stopping it and then restarting it is done. As of today, this foreceful closing and restarting is done approx. 20 to 30 times a day and now I am tired of it. I tried to upgrade it to a newer uTorrent version but the freezing/hanging happens in the newer versions also. I remember approx. 3 years ago, I was using a higher version than the present one (I think it was uTorrent version 3.x) and I got an error relating to "ntdll.dll" file. I tried to upgrade the uTorrent version then, but for the higher version also, it was displaying the "ntdll.dll" error. I then started downgrading the versions and reached the present version i.e. uTorrent v2.0.1 (build 19248) where it was OK for 2+ years, but from the last 8 to 9 months, the freezing/hanging has started on this version (i.e. uTorrent v2.0.1 (build 19248)). Kindly help as I don't want to loose any of the torrent and also I cannot start from scratch and reload all 23,856 torrent again.
