  1. Good work. Congrats on the release of 1.5 What changed between build 435 and 436? It's difficult to determine as the changlog for 436 details all the changes since 1.4 but doesn't detail the changes between build 435 and 436. Thanks.
  2. Just remember, for every client, there are ardent supporters who use that respective client--you all happen to be supporters of uT. There are plenty of ardent supporters of BitComet on their forum. There are plenty of supporters of Cohen's Mainline client and even plenty of supporters of Kazaa. I don't think it's a smart idea for the developer of uT to be working with PeerFactor. It would be akin to him helping MPAA/RIAA with some authorized distribution system they were trying to implement. Another example. We all know Firon is the guy who does all the website maintainence. What if Firon started to work for the MPAA/RIAA as a web admin? Would you all be so supportive? Admittedly, there wouldn't be anything harmful to the uT client itself, but you'd certainly have a bad impression/aftertaste of Firon because he's helping the MPAA/RIAA cause. It's in the same light that by working with Peerfactor, the developer of uT is helping and supporting Peerfactor, even if it directly may not impact uT. If many of you blind supporters can't understand point of view, then it's you who are blinded by zealous idolatry of uT or its developer.
  3. Dude, your share ratios suck! Seed more after you've finished downloading! Don't be a leech!
  4. Firon and Ludde, I just want to say that as much as I might disagree with certain aspects of how uTorrent is morphing into, I really do love this little (small size) BT client. With each passing day, I like it more and more. And while I don't detest BitComet as you two seem to, I am using BC less and less. Only on torrents where I can hardly acquire any peers will I resort to BC. Otherwise I stick with uTorrent as my main client. I just wanted to say keep up the good work. Both of your constant efforts are duly noted and appreciated.
  5. It must have been changed to "on by default" then' date=' because I fired up the new beta expecting a bug-fix release, and found this new bar on by default! It kicks ass, but I'm wondering why it wasn't mentioned in the changelog because I moved from 426 to 427 and voila, a change! [/quote'] Yes, I just noticed that too. upgraded from 426 to 427 and there it was on the left, turned on by default. Just press F7 to get rid of it.
  6. Firon, does changing this option take effect immediately or does it require a reboot? i.e., in the middle of downloading, can it be turned on or off and it's effective immediately or does it require a restart of uTorrent to make the change take effect? Don't quote posts before yours please.
  7. Having this feature turned on should indeed help the integrity of the swarm and thus makes the torrent last longer, but it does not necessarily speed up the download for an individual. In fact, in most cases it--and depending on how it's implemented--will slow down the speed for the individual. Firon, does changing this option take effect immediately or does it require a reboot? i.e., in the middle of downloading, can it be turned on or off and it's effective immediately or does it require a restart of uTorrent to make the change take effect? Also, I think it's a better idea to have this as a function to turn on and off per torrent like DHT/PEX rather than a global setting. As another user has mentioned, one might be downloading several torrents and one of the torrents may require the feature and another torrent may not need this feature turned on. Hope Ludde is reading. Thanks!
  8. Quite frankly, I think centralized trackers--and especially private trackers--should be abolished. Only DHT and PeX should be left for communicating peers to each other. In the world of p2p, everything should readily be shared to and with all who wants it.
  9. Interesting... So if I don't know of the peer, how did s/he reach me? How does s/he know of me to reach me?
  10. I'm using 417 and I'm getting H, X, E and e flags. Lots of H and X flags. There was a bug with PEX in 413 (read the changelog for 417) and it's been fixed now. I'm not sure if uTorrent was only displaying X when it wasn't suppose to or was actually making connections to other peers when it wasn't suppose to (respecting the private flag). Either way, I wish uTorrent would ignore the private flag and force PEX on all torrents, but that doesn't seem to be politically supported by Ludde. But at least PEX has been implemented--that's a positive step!
  11. Ah, so glad to see the introduction of PEX. Great little app! Keep up the great work Ludde! You too Firon! Regarding first/last piece priority download, does turning that feature off really speed up ramp-up time? uTorrent is very slow to ramp-up as compared to other clients such as BitComet. Was this feature indeed the culprit which slowed down the ramp-up time?
