  1. Thanks for your input. Are you still on 2.2.1 today? Then I'm not alone. The download machine is at my parents home. It's because my own internet isn't always stable. I can copy the torrents over after they're downloaded. This takes less time. That's also why I don't really need much space because I don't store them on the download machine. I could however benefit from fewer writes onto the flash storage so I'm just trying to work out the cache settings. I suppose a ram drive would have the least writes but it's not going to work when you download a torrent that's over the ramdrive's size. So I'm just looking for the next best thing. Would you do utorrent + windows write disk cache or just utorrent? Also, should I format the flash storage with a larger default allocation size? I heard using a larger one reduces amount of writes. Maybe I'm wrong.
  2. Thanks. I really appreciate it. I'm still on utorrent 2.2.1. Is that insane?
  3. Would you trust utorrent or windows disk cache more? Or both?
  4. First of all, thanks for reading and replying. No. It's a tiny little mini computer with a small system drive at 32GB. Like a NUC but smaller, the size of a cigarette box The way to expand storage is with the microsd slot. I have a 128GB card in it but you can put larger. The reason I'm using it is because it's low power, passive cooling etc. It's kind of a machine you can offload some tasks onto. I suppose attaching an nvme drive in a usb enclosure would provide all the write endurance you could ever need, but it also feels like overkill. Instead of doing that I'm simply using a memory card that's like "high endurance". You know the kind that's for dashcams etc. They can take a fair amount of writes. Unfortunately they don't have an even distribution of wear like the ssd drives do, so I'm just wondering if there's any setting that could be beneficial to extending the life of this flash storage. Thanks again.
  5. Hey everyone I'm doing the blasphemous act of downloading to a MicroSD card (on a windows computer). I suppose anyone downloading to a usb drive or memory card would love to know the same info as me. With Windows 10+ write cache being what it is, pretty good. What's recommended today (2022) when it comes to disk cache settings for protecting flash storage? I see many users fixing bottlenecks by disabling uTorrent disk cache and going with windows cache only. Is that advisable? I'd love if there was a "flash storage" disk cache setting to reduce unnecessary writes. Thanks!
