  1. Old Nomad: so why keep bitching? :| Grab ethereal, monitor the packets and show your evidence. Otherwise be quiet. :/
  2. Sigh...try reading the FAQ...it's there for a reason. :/ http://www.utorrent.com/faq.php#What_is_AppData.3F
  3. Old Nomad: there's a big fucking difference between "is" and "was". The old Peerfactor WAS associated to Retspan, but has since split from them (no longer associated) and the Peerfactor now IS a new company. What exactly is the problem? :| Do you judge all Germans like that too just because of what Hitler/Himmler/Goering/Goebbles and crew did? Or do you think all Americans are like John Johnston? Grow up! And like I said, nobody is forcing this program down your throat. You're free to use any second-best client.
  4. Fully agreed. This non-sense has come to an end. Either you use µTorrent, great, or you don't, which is fine too - use your favorite BitTorrent client. But there's no need to slam the product down, or give false accusations which you have no proof of. If you're that paranoid, write your own damn client instead of criticizing other people's hard work. 'Nuff said. :/
  5. Yeah those types of people everyone should try to ignore. They're nothing but walking diseases looking to pick a fight... :/
  6. killingfrost: 1.) Shouldn't matter, really. 2.) The amount of connections could be overwhelming your modem/router...you may have to set it to something lower. Alternatively, you could use the built-in speed guide (us e the 1 Mbit option) and see if that works out better for you. Oscarxp: sorry, if you can't access the router, then you're out of luck. B.t.w., I hope you're not stealing your neighbour's wireless connection, as that could get you convicted... :|
  7. GUYNEWBIE: you're making a big deal out of nothing. It seems to me you like you want to hear something specifically. What is it that you want to hear? :|
  8. Oldboy: µTorrent didn't lose any credibility, only in the minds of those who like to spread FUD. Understood? OK. :/
  9. StoicJester: well, I offered to help him with testing new syntaxes, since I have a lot of them (which I've gathered through the years), and he told me "I don't need your help, besides, you're using a few of my syntaxes". Bold is my emphasis. I didn't know he had some kind of "copyright" on those syntaxes, since everybody can make their own and use them as they see fit. And AFAIA, you can't copyright/register/trademark those syntaxes either. So I didn't even reply to the e-mail, I just let the issue die. In short, I offered to help (freely), and in return I was accused of stealing his syntaxes. Obviously you can't argue with someone like that. :/ If you ever need a full-blown ad-blocking list (mine is as strong as they come, 'cause I hate ads), feel free to ask. I share with everyone, and won't charge or accuse you of anything. I may have a few false positives, and a very select few ads make it through, but it's more the exception rather than the rule.
  10. PG is pretty cool about it, but bluetick OTOH...fuckers.
  11. I agree with Osmosis. Try to use 1.5 (there's a lot of critical bug fixes), unless it has show-stopper bugs.
  12. I'm using my own custom list. I did e-mail the dude that made the list (Percieve - sp?) to help him with a couple of things, but I got a rude response, to put it nicely. :/
  13. Hofshi, Boo: that's because the file is named utbanner.png, and AdBlock picks up anything with a *banner* in it (at least, mine does). I've added utorrent.com to the exceptions list a while ago, but for other sites I've asked them to rename their logo to something other than "banner" (Phoronix is one that renamed it).
  14. Very well said, ignorantcow.
  15. _GuaRdiaN_: You'll be banned.
  16. _GuaRdiaN_: shut your piehole and read the fucking thread that was posted a few days ago.
  17. Paraver: you seem to be terribly confused. :| Peer Exchange is a way to find out about other BitTorrent users, something like DHT. Peer factor is a company, which is probably what you meant. In either case there's nothing to worry about as it doesn't affect µTorrent in any way.
  18. Celtic Ferret: you really need to get your facts straight before making dramatic statements like that. That's all I'm gonna say. :/
  19. Yes, making a torrent was suggested in the IRC #. Personally I think it's a great idea.
  20. The size of the .exe doesn't really matter, it's unnecessary features and excessive RAM consumption that need to be kept to an absolute minimum. :/
  21. User: good for you. µTorrent is working perfectly here.
  22. Ridiculous. Glad I'm not paranoid. :/
  23. rafi: because you're still just another peer on the DHT network that tracks other torrents? :|
  24. rseiler: no, it was set to 0 by default (which means disabled). -1 consumed all your memory after a while, but it seems Ludde tweaked the Read Cache in Build 433 well enough to make these symptoms disappear.
  25. Noodle: why? Why do you want to send Ludde extra unnecessary file dumps? :|
