Hofshi, try the Linux version of the OOo torrent. I'm a seeder there (and have set Encryption to Enabled).

Sloshua: yep just patch the TCP/IP file to 608 and set the net.max_half_open parameter to 304 and you're good to go.

Hofshi: that's because Ludde and Firon feel differently on what settings are "better". I say use whatever you feel works best for you.

Nah, don't worry about it. With such a wide upload capacity, you should set it to 304, no problems.

Could someone in the know answer this for me: If I'm using the read cache feature and my statistics show it as being 33% effective, does that mean that 1/3 of all my uploading from this session has come from the cache?

By testing it with the OOo torrent. If you get miserable speeds with this torrent (assuming you've port forwarded, set good values in your options etc. and all that), then your ISP is most likely to blame. :|

I have 128 kb/s upload, and realistically the most you'll get from it is 11 kB/s upload. You'll almost never reach your maximum download speed unless you're on an extremely fast torrent, and most public torrents aren't well-seeded. But sure, it would definitely be an improvement over your current 64 kb/s.

Now you know it's not your ISP. You have very, very limited upload bandwidth, and realistically you won't maximize your downloads every time. :/

Edit: OpenOffice.org is just a test torrent, but you can install and use it like M$ Office (if you want).

GaVrA: our "standard" speed test here has always been OOo. If you get good speeds with this torrent, then you know it's not your ISP messing around.

Your problem is that you have a severely choked upload connection. A 64 kb/s upload doesn't allow you to receive much download. :/ Also, your speeds depend on the torrent. How many seeds and peers do you see? On a "good" torrent, you should download about twice your upload speed, in your case ~12 kB/s. But that's very rare, so on most torrents ~6 kB/s is more typical.

Oh come on... :/ Download Beta Build 413, open µTorrent, press Ctrl G (on your keyboard, you know), and select that option - xx/64kbit - from the drop-down menu. Easy.

And if you keep getting bad download speeds, you ought to try Encryption. µTorrent doesn't have a large presence yet, but with Azureus supporting the same Encryption scheme, you should be able to get better speeds once both clients have stabilized.
