      Important Security Advisory   06/07/2016

On June 6th, 2016, BitTorrent was made aware of a security issue involving the vendor which powers our forums.
The vulnerability appears to have been through one of the vendor’s other clients, however it allowed attackers to access some information on other accounts. As a result, attackers were able to download a list of our forum users. We are investigating further to learn if any other information was accessed. Our vendor has made backend changes so that the hashes in the file do not appear to be a usable attack vector. As a precaution, we are advising our users to change their passwords. While the passwords may not be used as a vector on the forums, those hashed passwords should be considered compromised. Anyone using the same password for forums as well as other places is strongly advised to update their passwords and/or practice good personal security practices.

  1. Thanks for the update.
  2. What security issues are you talking about as in?
  3. Will it depend on the speed of my internet connection on how long it takes to be transferred.
  4. that would be a great thing to do, though.
  5. How good is Windows defender. Not used yet.
  6. You have to sort out this issue with your ISP only, uTorrent got nothing to do with it.
  7. Quite possible, you never know
  8. Tried to login to my account on extratorrent, message says it has been shut down permanently. But why? That was such a good place to get all what one required. Any alternative to use if not extratorrent. With the pace torrent sites are being banned, i think the future is really bleak.
  9. You should be using an anti-virus though in these current scenario of cyber attacks.
  10. What kind of equation you are talking about? if you are getting a 4mb on a 50mb connection, i think it is justified getting a 10 mb/sec with a 100 mb connection with healthy torrent.
  11. You should contact your internet provider to increase the internet speed and bandwidth. A friend downloads games with a 100 MB internet connection with 10MB speed. A 60gb game can be downloaded in half a day.
  12. Have not heard about it yet.
  13. that is quite surprising, but it should not be like this.
  14. As far as I know, there is no limit to the max number of torrents existing in the client. You can download as much as you can.
  15. Ok so that is the difference you are making out. Now i think things are getting clearer.
