      Important Security Advisory   06/07/2016

On June 6th, 2016, BitTorrent was made aware of a security issue involving the vendor which powers our forums.
The vulnerability appears to have been through one of the vendor’s other clients, however it allowed attackers to access some information on other accounts. As a result, attackers were able to download a list of our forum users. We are investigating further to learn if any other information was accessed. Our vendor has made backend changes so that the hashes in the file do not appear to be a usable attack vector. As a precaution, we are advising our users to change their passwords. While the passwords may not be used as a vector on the forums, those hashed passwords should be considered compromised. Anyone using the same password for forums as well as other places is strongly advised to update their passwords and/or practice good personal security practices.

  1. I set the width of the various fields when I'm working with uTorrent. Things like name, date added, status, ratio, peers, etc. But, after quitting and restarting, the fields are back in their super small default configuration. I've removed and reinstalled the program, making sure to remove any files, even invisible, that have anything to do with uTorrent. I've been using the free version of uTorrent Version 1.8.7 (43864). It's the latest version. I'm using a late 2009 (don't laugh) MacBook running El Capitan 10.11.3. Can anybody tell me how to get these damn fields to stay?! I didn't used to be that way.
  2. Hey everybody, I've been using uTorrent for years, but lately, in the past 6-10 months, uTorrent has not been saving the sizes of the fields I've set for things like "date added, name, size, ratio, status" etc. I'll drag the fields to the size I want, but next time I open uTorrent, they are all squished together making them unreadable. Any suggestions? I've uninstalled and gotten rid of any extra uTorrent files lying around, and then reinstalled without success. I'm using uTorrent vVersion 1.8.7 (43864) on a MacBook late 2009 running OS X El Capitan v10.11.3 Thanks
