  1. What about using the web app plugin thing where one can download through the browser into a folder. As long as it works...
  2. I might have to try a different torrent program.
  3. Sorry, what are you referring to? Oh, presumably antivirus. I'm just using Windows antivirus features. I have Superantispyware installed but don't always have it running in the background.
  4. Disable all settings here? There are 4: 'Check Apps and Settings', 'Smartscreen for MS Edge', 'PUA', 'Smartscreen for 'MS Store Apps'. I already had 'Smartscreen for MS Edge' and 'PUA' disabled. Thx.
  5. Now Windows has automatically uninstalled uTorrent?? WTF! I checked the firewall, there is an exception for uTorrent both TCP in and UDP in in the firewall both private and public. I disable all features I don't need. What now?
  6. Hi, I recently re-installed uTorrent in the hope of addressing this issue which seems to still be unresolved https://forum.utorrent.com/topic/114101-utorrent-flagged-as-malware-by-windows-10/ Anyway, uTorrent still functions though when I start it up, it usually crashes, then I have to 'end process' and restart whereafter it works OK with the ads still running. I should also add that when I exit uTorrent, an instance is still left running in the 'Background Processes' which I have to 'end'. Now, on my previous installation, I'd changed the downloads folder to D drive due to lack of space on C drive (new install defaults to C drive). I still have hundreds of files on the D drive from previous uTorrent. So, again I've changed the downloads folder location to D drive but all the previous files are not available for torrenting - I'm guessing the trackers were deleted due to uninstall? Also, when I changed the Downloads destination, I just changed it to D drive which means that all the torrent files are just dumped on the D drive. (I suppose I should create a folder for them). Anyway, my point is that I have lots of other folders and files on the D drive which I obviously don't want to share; to what extent is my security an issue when utorrent files/folders are sitting alongside personal stuff. I suppose I could create some partitions on the D drive to deal with this. Sorry, bit of a newb when it comes to security. Thanks.
  7. OK, I installed the latest version of uTorrent (3.55). It seems to have installed correctly but is showing strange behaviour. I keep deleting torrents from the download section of the UI but they keep coming back when I restart.(edit, they're now gone but it took several restarts. The old files seemed to delete after I downloaded a new file) Download speeds for files is variable. Like in the previous version I had, I get the strange advertising:
  8. OK, I managed to make an exception in Defender for this. Which version of uTorrent should I install? The most recent one I used had a message about 'sharing data with partners'? Thanks.
  9. Hi, I've searched around for this issue and not found any suitable solutions. My knowledge on security is lacking and I'm hesitant at moving forward. I was using utorrent for a good while. I had the '...sharing data with partners...' msg appear when I opened up uTorrent to download/share. However, I just clicked off this and the program seemed to work normally. So I ignored this message. Anyway, it seems Microsoft Defender Antivirus flags 'PUATorrent:Win32/uTorrent' and won't let me proceed from there. I believe I have to make an exception the firewall for this instance of uTorrent. Is this a good idea? Am I opening 'an unlocked door' to my computer by making this exception? I thought uTorrent has security within the program to protect against worms or malware etc. Please advise, thanks.
