  1. All the info is in the utorrent resume file on utorrent restart it doesn't fully check all data for files it knows are in settings - directories. But does when a user ha moved their files to other locations not set in settings - directories. All that needs changing is a flag each time utorrent closes to say the torrent is ok as it does for all the settings - directories torrents. If flag isn't changed then more settings - directories locations are needed let say 20 as a start but could need many more. Depends if user places torrents to hdd root or within sub folders. Would be easy to set same flag in the resume file as is done with those torrents in settings - directories that don't need check on each utorrent restart. So all torrents are treated the same as if they were in settings - directories locations. That is if were ok last time utorrent ran they should still be ok. Why treat some torrent different to other because user hasn't enough settings - directory locations to make them work the same as those in settings - directory locations. Unknown: I only assume it is resume data that holds the flags for how torrents resume (unknown). Though could be another utorrent background file, I'm sure the developers know which one hold this data.
  2. Torrent right mouse context menu - Advanced - Set Download Location After moving any stopped seeding torrent's to new location (hdd) and then let utorrent know of this new location using the above. Will hash check each of those torrents each time utorrent starts or after as each torrent is started. This doesn't happen for any torrent located in known directories that utorrent knows of in settings/directories. Can you adjust utorrent code so utorrent doesn't need to keep hash checking these torrents, for those we moved manually.
  3. Some feedback. So far faster than old torrent loader. Could be nice with layout like that torrent loader v1.5 uses. Torrent loader is dead now i'm sure for a few years, no activity at sourceforge. Can the meta structure be saved with abreviations extended. Or shown extended while editing to know what they all mean (s) (i) (d) and others. Chokes a bit on a single core p3 1ghz, 1gb mem (download/uploader pc). Memory maxes out 100% for a long duration while loading a single type torrent (not the multi directory type etc) max (d)6 [depth 6 ?]. Size of 3mb and 1mb seen slow loading. While saving is whole lot faster..... Hang abouts.. torrent loader much slower taking twice as long, it gets bogged down while saving not loading. It also maxes out the cpu but does bounce between 90%-100% at all times, except when torrent is loaded then 0% cpu load. Have had a couple of issues and still checking those, possibly not binencode related atm...
  4. @ Firon While i have no idea what promo is and why it is there. Unless is some tutorial for new features then i don't see the point. What also you know is most people who use utorrent ever visit them forum, and why should they. v3 has so much i would never use and well was one reason i stopped using other p2p clients many years ago such as shareaza and yes even the nice abc. So you have bloated v3 and will be lot of work to maintain. I guess many also just need a client that does as it always used to do without any frills. Suremaybe could switch of those i doubt totaly and use as did previous utorrent versions. So you have said this version here v2.2.1 is no more. Then it would be fitting to fix any outstanding known bugs and check back to see if fixes are ok with the users. I would then be happy to use v2.2.1 with a original skin i downloaded months ago from this site. And use it like that. Until then i use v2.0.4 as i have been doing for a long time. Why well because it works, and to move to better version needs to have no bugs and be stable as indicated it is on the home site. Please consider this and make final changes so people can choose if they dislike v3 can use v2.2.1. I'm sure you would rather them use utorrent than any other, i know i would.
  5. Surely with such a big version jusmp there should be more info for it and deatiled change log. Last change log entry -- 2010-11-10: Version 2.2 (build 23071) Now if download a the version you get a big leap to utorrent 2.2 (build 23235) Will hold of using the new version until i know what is changed. I see icons have changed and have the old icon pack ready for when changes are known. Wonder why the sudden change to be silent. Or has this version been handed over to someone that doesn't care for the changelog upkeep, to keep us informed.
  6. Graph_TCP_Rate_Control gives purple tcp speed graphs, and red line in graphs is for the udp+tcp throughput combined. Is their one for udp i could do with having it as an option. I keep miss reading for it i guess, do you know what is is called to enable it ?
  7. utorrent v2.0.1.19248 Dropping one torrent command file (for the torrent to load into gui) at a time, works well. Dropping two or more onto the gui at the same times always exits utorrent. Where previous versions would be ok with doing the same.
  8. Thanks Switeck for the detailed explanation, and zarggg for pointing out its internal part of windows os. Ok so its very easy to use and work with. Just checked it was already on, turned it of to see any difference, none noted. I have this note i copied from somewhere, likely from this utorrent forum. Maybe even this same thread, (i did edit this when first saved it to a document for later viewing - line spacing). This togther with above really needed information. I can experiment, and trun on uTP knowing i can disable it for uTorrent if ever needed to. Tough by now i think most uTorrent users will have uTP activated and using it. Thanks you all been needing the above information for a very long time. Now am more happy to leave uTorrent alone to do it's thing with uTP protocol active. Whereas previously i was unsure of it and didn't know about it. Sure i read pages for it, but didn't answer as is written simply above from Switeck and zarggg. Thanks to you both and maybe this important relevant information is highlighted for other users in easy view, (not buried) for all to see.
  9. Firon i'm not using uTP atm there is no easy way to active or inactivate if and when needed or is there. If there is does the settings remain for other uses or interfere (new protocol unsure) So have nttp on udp and utorrent on tcp atm. Click nearest location using tcp (port forwarding is ok old utorrent and is ticked in utorrent v2.0). But when select run test always errors with. Data send eror: A local networking problem closed the connection (10053) or (10054) Is the above because not using uTP or some other. utorrent does upload and download fine at speed, or within any speed limits when set. Also the upload speed is near enough, the must be getting the part corrrect, but not sure if exact. Had to do a conversion to determine if correct or not. Maybe it is a uTP thing as not using am unsure of it. Though everything works as should normaly do even with the setting as is. But what is good all sites now reconise at last, so it seems, utorrent is the software they recommend. And so do i to friends etc, trustworthy and reliable Thanks for v2.0 stable release (most sites need stable releases to play the game). As an adition after looking at ms site for those errors it saying winsock or software not able to get ip or others. Normal running of utorrent is fine so i guess the secure ip setting in utorrent may have something to do with this or not. Javascript and java is noted because if go direct from speedtest box to those pages, they complain of no javascript or java. If utrrent fetches via speed test from those same pages could cause the error (unknown). Meanwhile i will have a look again at uTP, last time looked was to much reading. Didn't get down to the nuts and bolts of all pro's and cons fast enough. With everything in life their are gains and losses, uTP gains seem good for speed but what downfalls if any are there using it on xp os with sp3. Asked as unsure if it's for higher os than xp. Also i do see IPv6/Teredo which i think was install uTP but nothing for uninstall if need to revert, thanks again.
  10. Upgrade tryout of v2.0 stable version. Upgrade from 1.98 (5380) beta to v2.0 stable release. Using UDP not sure of utp safety as yet or other similar issues. Even no easy upgrade method to have utp with udp as backup if dislike it. MAybe the installer needs additions for this. Not forgetting some of us (many of us) install by unticking install options to keep current config, directory location et all etc. One important note re: the speed tests. Have all time javascript or and java inactive. Couldn't use the speedtest sites. Need a way to test with non javascript or java active browser (firefox default browser don't trust ie). All those that ise their browsers with inactive javascript or java or both, are never able to speedtest with v2.0 atm.
  11. Lets say your not reading what i have written. Settings Bandwidth >>>>>> Alternate upload speed when not downloading (kB/s): It doesn't say for this one [0: unlimited] I just tried it as others have [0: unlimited] so thought i maybe it's the same, it isn't End of, unless you like having the final word, np
  12. Yeah i assumed auto for 0 also for "global ALTERNATE upload rate when not downloading". After all it doesn't say [0: unlimited] for that one, only for the one above. Could be a one of bad tracker etc, neither did the logger report nything, that would be expected. Why go on about it, i've reported it that should be it, until know for sure if a bug or not. I'm not bothered, happy not to put a 0 there, not a problem for me. Oh i do like the new statistics, never noticed they had ben updated before. Lots of nice new info, very helpful. Soon maybe they'll be loads more infos and all in a new panel next to logger, or after help (on top bar) - yay!!.
  13. Ah ok understand now, no one knew for sure before utorrent attempted to esimate the ammount. Maybe my posts could help bug swatting something ie. why 0 affected it like so. Or if no bug found for it, make 0 impossible to enter.. I'm not against utorrent, i'm all for it. It's the best client i have ever used and respect. I'm sure near all here will agree to this.
  14. Yes 1-2 kB/s but not 5-10kB/s As i said it only happened as i changed a setting, and upset utorrent. It didn't say ZERO (0) was automatic i assumed it might of been. Since returning the setting back to a value >ZERO (0) all is ok again. Also note while it was at ZERO (0) there was no increase in upload performance. Looks like i let some cat out of the bag. I suppose we all step into the unknown from time to time, and still don't understand what the fuss is all about. Though this time it seems utorrent is meant to be better than the rest, i agree it is.
  15. Sorry if hoped on any devs sensitive coding, no idea that it would of been. Think of this then more of what shouldn't be done, if the lable doesn't say auto 0 it means just that. No i'll leave it as is now, just won't set to 0 again for that one. Tried 0 for auto, though it didn't say it would be auto. So far back to normal never gone over 2.0kB/s since, as far as i can tell. SET net.calc_overhead to FALSE - I have it set as TRUE, which is the way i would prefer it to be. Thanks for pointing this out. btw: I'm still interested to know what it would have been download at 5- kB/s, it was a seeded file already finished (no more download needed).
  16. Neither has utorrent ever before shown the same costs. First time i have seen this happen, here's how to invoke it, and fix it? Bandwidth - Alternate upload rate when not downloading (kB/s): - tick - 0 To stop it downloading higer rates (why should it the torrent is seeding) - put a figure in the box of yor max upload rate. I have the same speed speed of without - 0 - i the box and with a figure as with a - 0 Just now i down have higher download leech out, heck knows what they were downloading. Max download on the seed now is 0.1 - 2.0 kB/s and never any more as was as writen above.
  17. Just wondering if this correct with v1.9 build15380 that with 1 torent active that is seeded. Someone is uploading while at same time, downloading betwen 5 - 10 kB/s. This is over many minutes, question is why download at that many kB/s when the torrent is 100% and seeding ? I have stopped that torrent for now to see what you say here. Maybe i'm giving away more than torrent data for which they're downloading from me ? Or is this normal !! I don't ever recall having this seen before of many years, running various torrent softwares.
  18. 19380 for me aswell as previous beta is not adhering to max upload speeds in the setting or rmb drop list. They are always going faster than set By faster it's meant to 10 kB/s and more kB/s than set, maxing out bandwidth up/down. Throttling utorrent downloads and slowing considerable other inet softwares running. Is this corrected for the next beta ? 1.8.2 or 1.8.3 was corrrect. I could use those versions, although nothing is gained by sticking to old versions. In the way of progress for utorrent and feedback for it if everyone used old versions. Just a quick update, if have just one download running and set in setting for one only it remains as should within +1 to 2kB/s. Seeding on/off makes no difference or ihow many seeds in setting set for uploading. Just tried with 1 download only in setting and have tried with another download in paused state and still ok. Not ideal downloading one at a time when plenty of download bandwidth availble for more, but may point you in the right direction to fixing this. sorry though i was onto something there seems not, but isn't going further than +5kB/s so maybe something ? Though still more than set, let's see what you find for next version for us to try. Keep up the good work
  19. Just an update, now using alpha 14981. I've had to disable the udp protocol from xp firewall setup. It just wasn't doing things right although it was with the 14908 alpha. With the 14981 alpha everything became a standstill all torrents had no down or uploading. Changing the protocol back to TCP and everything is fine again near all torrents are actively download and uploading. I read the wiki blurb about uTP its saying, its like a udp connection using tcp, is that right ? Is uTorrent ever to be able to allow udp as a connection. ? This is so i can juggle different apps, using combination of protocols, less load for all. The speed limiter is working for me in this alpha 14981 previous 14908 it was broken. HAven't yet used the Teredo install thing, will now go and read up what its about..... Ok it would be using tcp and udp. Why not just use one, say udp only for the IPv6 and IPv4, in the application you use teredo with. At the moment i have a working client that is now using tcp. I may change it back to another alpha or beta to use with udp, with working speed limiter. Needing the speed limiter so can use other net apps.
  20. THANK YOU For the udp implementation, hope it goes well and remains in utorrent. As my conection ia all on udp i always found, uploading while downloading from other sources. utorrent would strangle the download speed now i can upload at speed and download at speed by using udp only. I will be keeping up with newer beta updates as and when i get them. Please get the new udp into a stable release version soon. I have no problems yet, only just started using it v1.9.0 build 13910 (uncompressed version of course) Using windows xp1 (if it ain't broke why update)
