  3. I will try to explain this again. The big button that points to: http://www.utorrent.com/downloads/complete/os/win/track/beta serves many builds. There is one "main" build that is served most often. Currently, that build is 30331. The other builds can be considered "minor", or "test" builds. These builds are testing one very specific thing, like an obscure bug, or to see that a feature has not introduced instability. Once we are confident in those changes, they are rolled into the "main" build that everyone gets. I understand that that is different than the way it worked before, and that it is confusing. The advantages to this system are: - We can test many fixes / changes at once, independently of each other. - We can test a change on a small part of the population. This is VERY important if a bad bug appears in a stable build. We will work on developing a better way to communicate which build is which with our valuable beta testing community. By the way, you can see the change that 30334 is testing by visiting the "Devices" node in the left hand nav.
  4. Quick question: Is 'right' in the above context being used as a synonym for 'correctly' or for 'immediately'? immediately
  5. May I have a direct link please ? With my luck' date=' I can get only 30224, 30317... Or should I try a few more times?... [/quote'] We will figure out a better way to do this soon
  6. -- 2013-11-13: Version 3.4 (build 30331) - Change: Set dpiaware flag false - Fix: Crash in torrent display code - Fix: Label counts were incorrect - Fix: "Uploaded this run" in "Show Statistics" dialog was unnecessarily highlighted - Change: "Now Playing" node moved to bottom of left-hand navigation - Change: Language package is downloaded right after the installation - Fix: Some memory leaks
  7. Yes, that is intentional. We now have a system in place that delivers different builds in different proportions (in this case 20%), so that we can test changes independently. This is going to help us get fixes to you much faster, once 3.4 comes out. In this particular case, 30305 is the fix-display-values track. We are doing work in that branch to fix a long-existing problem in the way that uTorrent draws the torrent information in the torrents ListView. By the way, if you can think of a good way to communicate that to the user base, please let us know. (e.g. Maybe a list of the ancillary builds in a smaller font underneath the download button)
  8. Are you measuring the data transfer rate, including the protocol overhead? Which tools did you use to measure the data rates? Do you feel that uTorrent is being clear about which it is reporting? Thanks for the report.
  9. New version - Changelog is up -- 2013-10-04: Version 3.4 (build 30193)
  10. Greetings uTorrent Forum, As you're probably aware, the automatic update work was back-ported and released in 3.3.1 The new focus for 3.4 will be support for "updatable torrents", and "Bittorrent bundles" We'll be running a test of the first phase of these new features over the next two days, and we'd like you to participate. Forum User jknoll, of the Content Team will be available to answer questions about this first-of-its kind test. To participate, * Download uTorrent 3.4.29991 or later * Download this torrent: http://apps.bittorrent.com/bt-bundles/BitTorrent-Public-Enemy-Get-Up-Stand-Up-Base.torrent * Wait until 12pm PST, 1 August, 2013 At that time, we will "unlock" that test torrent, and you will have access to more content, from the same torrent! After that time, we will look at our servers, and see how well the integration between uT and servers is working, and we'll update you in this thread. http://apps.bittorrent.com/bt-bundles/base_torrent.png http://apps.bittorrent.com/bt-bundles/update_status.png Thank you for using uTorrent.
  11. Hello everyone, there are some difficult crashes we are working on in 3.4 - you may see a lot of builds with virtually no visible changes until we have isolated the problems.
  12. All versions of utorrent 3.3.1 and later use %appdata%\utorrent as their install location, because if you ever turn on the automatic update feature, we have to be able to write to the install directory.
  13. Hi Everyone, 3.3.1 is in RC, and we have resumed work on the alpha --2013-05-24: Version 3.4 (build 29741) - Change: suppress add torrent dialog by default - Fix: Auto shutdown/restart - Change: Revert portable mode installation UI - Fix: duplicate entry in torrent download listview - Fix: hash failures on slow media writing big files
  14. As far as I can see - rechecking is semi broken in several ways: 1. It simply skip recheck after the first torrent with multiple selected torrents 2. Re-checking of a a fully downloaded torrent with some file(s) skipped results in less the 100% complete. 3. TBD ... So I would be surprised if it is broken in a few more use-cases... It is a beta' date=' so I guess we should expect those glitches to be fix before the first RC is released![/quote'] Hi Rafi, We think we've fixed #1 & #2 in 3.3.1.29579 - let me know what you think.
  15. Open torrent in uT ([ ] Start torrent) pointing it to the dir with incompleted set of files, right click on it, select Force recheck. I have no idea why uT thinks that it should start the torrent after recheck. Hi Raistlin, - Do you store the torrent data in a non-default directory? - What are your settings in ( Preferences | Directories ) ? - Is it a magnet link, or a torrent? Thanks!
  16. Hi, It's very important to us that you are able to upgrade without losing your settings. If you have utorrent 3.3.1 installed in a location other than %appdata%/utorrent, you should be able to to a manual update ( Help | Check for Updates ) Note: If ( Preferences | General | Automatically Install updates ) is off, utorrent should not migrate you to %appdata%/utorrent However, even if it is on, it should not harm your settings. Please let us know if either of these is a problem, and exact steps we can take to repro. P.S. We will have portable mode available in the next build - please give it a try if you like, and let us know if it works for you. Note that utorrent install nomenclature is very confusing. "Standalone mode" is with settings.dat next to utorrent.exe. Portable mode is when you installed from a removable device, utorrent detected that, and offered you the "install as portable mode?" checkbox, and you accept. In this mode, not registry keys should be written, and settings, torrents, and data should only be written to the drive that utorrent.exe is on.
  17. Hi, We removed the close button, because there were at least three ways to dismiss the window. You might notice we're testing a feature that allows torrent creators to add "Related" metadata to their torrents. I agree that the dialog is too tall - I will see what I can do.
  18. Connects to very few via utp but no data transfers at all to and from them. We will likely have a fix for this issue in the next 3.4 build. Thank you for the report.
  19. Hi djrobot, To help, we'll need a little information. - What was the version that you updated from? - What was the version you updated to? - What directory was You original install in? - What files are in that directory now? - What files are in %appdata%/utorrent ? Thank you, and have a nice day!
  20. With Pref->advanced->bt.graceful_shutdown=false I get ~15 sec for uT to fully exit (3 seeding jobs/1 download job' date=' ~300 connections). How long is it for you ? The only issue I can see here is somewhat "heavy"/frozen behavior of the GUI for a few seconds after an exit command.[/quote'] Hi cfw, We know that it sometimes shuts down very slowly, and we're still looking into this. Does it seem to happen more often if you delete a torrent soon before shutting down? Thanks for your patience.
  21. Hi, We have an experimental feature called distributed share that we are testing in alphas & betas - that code is not turned on in release builds. I'll forward your post to the Distributed Share team. Thank you
  22. Hi Everyone, We went through the 3.3.1 forum looking for unresolved issues. Problems we think we have fixed: - Checked 0.0 % - Download progress bar color regression - Crashes when I try to "Remove And...>Delete .torrent" for torrents without .torrent in %appdata%: - Crash: Deleteing data for a job that hasn't been started Here are the issues that we know about and intend to fix this cycle: - Certain upload limiter problems (imbalance, dropping off, ...) - .torrent associations bug - Blank Connectivity icon http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=721898#p721898 - AV problem: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=715404#p715404 Problems we have not been able to reproduce yet - Disk overload pre-allocating large files http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=721602#p721602 - Hibernation interferes with downloading We're not sure if these are still problems: - Related tab showing NULL values - Crash if torrent added via RSS: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=715974#p715974 http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=716116#p716116 http://ciaobaby.info/utorrent/crash-dumps/ - 29438 re-orders download priorities? http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=719428#p719428 Minor issues we may not get to this cycle: - "Uploaded" column reset to 0 when last peer lost http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=716456#p716456 Features we intend to add: - Make "create subfolder" checkbox remember it's last state Issues we won't fix this cycle: - magnet links take too long too load (we belive we've improved this greatly in the 3.4 build) TODO: - Release a description of the update / fallback algorithm - Release a description of how to manually fall back to an auto-downloaded version - Update help file Please let us know about other serious problem you encounter. Thank you
