  1. I agree 100%. It's better than it used to be, but this last bug is still preventing me from using it. Moving 10 or more torrents takes an enormous amount of effort.
  2. Every once in a while I get the message: Cannot find the specified file. Then the torrent gets a big red cross in front of it. A force recheck seems to fix it so far, but I'm afraid of losing data.
  3. I'm still getting torrent errors with 24796. Since the last couple of betas I'm regularly facing problems where µTorrent shows a red X and says something about not being able to find some file. Please fix.
  4. Thanks for the torrent crash fix. The last 2 days I've noticed torrents stop and display the red X. It then states something like: 'µTorrent cannot find file'.
  5. Here's how I do it: 1. Create a shortcut to the µTorrent executable. 2. Click the shortcut with the right mouse button and choose 'properties'. 3. Change the 'Run' setting to 'Minimized'. 4. Drag or copy the shortcut into the Start Menu -> Startup folder.
  6. What we need: 1. Select n torrents 2. Right click menu -> Set download location 3. Specify a directory 4. uTorrent moves ALL the torrents (and their files) to their RESPECTIVE sub-dirs (NOT dumping all in a single dir!) As I've said before' date=' all we need is [b']EXACTLY what happens when the files are moved after a torrent has finished downloading. You already have the code... we just need it as an option after downloads have finished. I just tested this in 2.2.1, and it definitely works for me. The behavior when you select multiple torrents is that we ask once for each torrent. Ok, I can confirm that with build 24649 it is indeed fixed! Hooray!!! You have no idea how much time you have saved me every day! I had installed Vuze, but will go back to µTorrent again.
  7. My settings 1. Put new downloads in : "E:\Downloads\Torrents\1. Downloading" 2. Move completed downloads to : "E:\Downloads\Torrents\2. Awaiting Verification" Situation 1. I click on a torrent (e.g., "Avatar x264 1080p") 2. µTorrent opens and suggests "E:\Downloads\Torrents\1. Downloading\Avatar x264 1080p". I change it to "E:\Downloads\Torrents\1. Downloading\Movies - Avatar". (note that it creates the "Movies - Avatar" dir!) 3. I accept 4. µTorrent downloads files (Avatar.001, Avatar.002, ... Avatar.nnn) 5. When the download finishes, µTorrent moves the files to "E:\Downloads\Torrents\2. Awaiting Verification\Movies - Avatar" (note that it creates the "Movies - Avatar" dir!) 6. When I get around to it, I extract and copy the Avatar movie to my movies directory. 7. I then choose 'Set download location' 8. I point the directory to "E:\Downloads\Torrents\3. Seeding" 9. µTorrent moves all the files to "E:\Downloads\Torrents\3. Seeding" (note that it did NOT create the "Movies - Avatar" dir!) Problems 1. It does not create the sub-dirs, and thus throws all the files into 1 directory, making it a mess and likely to have equally named but non-identical files from multiple torrents overwriting each other. 2. When I select multiple torrents I have to supply the directories over and over and over again. This makes moving dozens of torrents an enormous chore. Solutions 1. Have an option to re-create the sub-dir(s) EXACTLY LIKE when the download finishes (there it is correct, so you already have the source code!). 2. Apply the location to all selected torrents... if you want to change them one at a time, you can simply select them one at a time and apply the function (this is a standard in user interfaces since Windows 95). PS This has been tested with v2.2.1.24266
  8. Is this still an issue in the latest 2.2.1? Yes, and since I download about 5 torrents per day, it's taking me literally minutes every single time. It's the reason I've decided to consider other torrent apps. What we need: 1. Select n torrents 2. Right click menu -> Set download location 3. Specify a directory 4. uTorrent moves ALL the torrents (and their files) to their RESPECTIVE sub-dirs (NOT dumping all in a single dir!) As I've said before, all we need is EXACTLY what happens when the files are moved after a torrent has finished downloading. You already have the code... we just need it as an option after downloads have finished.
  9. Please have a look at this ability-to-move-data-files-to-new-locations idea: http://utorrentideas.uservoice.com/forums/47263-torrent-for-windows/suggestions/702124-ability-to-move-data-files-to-new-locations?ref=title Firon accidentally closed the following topic, but it still doesn't work. It's really taking a God awful time to move multiple torrents every day. Please, please, please fix or at least have it as an option in the settings.
  10. You saying it has been fixed is good enough for me. There's no need to back-port it and 'waste' time. That would really be great. Because it really is bothersome to go to Windows Explorer and find the uTorrent directory and start it again to get the window to pop up.Thanks.
  11. Yes, I've also asked about a fix for that icon. When I develop applications which have tray icons, I make sure I recreate them 1 minute after my app has started. This, because sometimes other apps block the adding of tray icons during startup. It is so simple to fix (a couple of lines of code), but the uTorrent developers don't seem to understand just how much frustration this simple bug causes us.
  12. and I'm sorry for overreacting. I was just frustrated by uTorrent.
  13. Rather slowly? I guess I didn't explain it enough: Approximately 2 files per second were deleted. 25000 x 2 seconds = 50000 seconds = 27 hours 46 minutes 40 seconds!!! In Explorer this takes about 5 seconds. Sorry, but this is a HUGE bug.
  14. I found a very serious bug: I tried to remove some torrents using the 'Remove And... Delete Data'. After that my machine became unresponsive. After finally getting ProcessExplorer to start I see it's uTorrent. I checked ProcessMonitor to see what was happening and I saw that uTorrent was deleting all the files (well over 25000) 1 by 1 :o . In the end I had to do a hard 'Kill process' to get control back. Please fix this!
  15. I have the same thing on Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
  16. For a couple of beta's now I've been getting the message 'The language file could not be downloaded' (or something like that) when it tells me a new version is available. After that, it still updates correctly. I use uTorrent English.
  17. Rafi, I for one DO appreciate your efforts. It's people like you that drive this project to higher standards. I'm a software engineer myself, and in the commercial software engineering world it's quite hard to get good feedback from end-users.
  18. Actually, I start µTorrent with a shortcut in the Startup menu. That has 'Run minimized' on.Is that the problem?
  19. No. This behavior is much saner and easier to use. I'm downloading TV episodes that are rar'd. Before' date=' when i changed the download location to a 'seeding' folder I automatically got a neat list of folders, with in those folders the rar's. Every folder would be 1 episode. Since RC3 I get 1 large pile of rars in the same folder. If I want this the old way i manually have to create the foldernames each time i move i torrent from within uTorrent, which is alot more work. Is there no way to revert this? I'm downgrading to RC2 for the moment, but I would really love this to be reverted, or at least to have it as a setting. When uTorrent downloads things, the torrent name is appended as a path, so why not when it is moved? -Edit: What I do now is: Select torrent>F2(select name)>Ctrl-C>Deselect>Right mouse click>Advanced>Set download location>Create New>Ctrl-V>Enter>click Ok. Alot more clicks if you ask me...[/quote'] I thought it was a bug and posted this in the Troubleshooting forum: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=87960 I didn't know it used to work correctly. They are really messing up lately. What is going on?!?
  20. 1. To fix the tray icon, you have to set the Boss Key. Then, activate Boss mode once, and then deactivate Boss mode again. Apparently, after doing that once it should be permanently fixed. Someone suggested this to me, and it has worked for me for the last 3 days (knock on wood). 2. Don't get me started. It's indeed incomprehensible the default UI is so bad. They should have stuck to the UI they had instead of forcing people to install a plug-in to fix it back to the original style.
  21. Thank you for your suggestion. Just to make clear: are you saying this will permanently fix the tray icon? Or do I have to do the boss key thingy every time it happens?
  22. Since I changed from v1.8.5 to v2.2.22982 I regularly don't see the icon in the system tray. The only way I can currently fix this is by going to the preferences and turning off 'Always show tray icon', then press 'Apply', and then turn on 'Always show tray icon'. But, about 50% of the time after restarting my computer the tray icon will be gone again. Very frustrating. I hope you guys can fix this soon.
  23. That's not my point. The thing is, the DEFAULT icons should be good. That is, after all, what everyone sees after they install this program. They used to look very nice in v1.8.5 (which I used up till yesterday), so there is no good reason to have poor icons now.
  24. Just got the new version (RC3). Normally I'm not too bothered by these things, but my God, the icons are atrocious! Who makes the decision which icons are used by default? I know people can change the skin, but I am just baffled by the fact you force people to install the skin changer app. Is it a strategy so users get familiar with installing apps?
  25. I still see a difference even after turning 'Enable bandwidth management' off. With v1.8.5 I never have problems with uploading and using the Internet at the same time, while with v2.0.1 I still on occasion have problems. Besides 'Enable bandwidth management', what setting do I need to change to get v1.8.5's performance back? Thank you.
