  1. Tested this on uT 3.0 build 26473 32-bit (system is Windows XP Pro SP3 32-bit): There are four situations where uTorrents behavior is unexpected: In cases (1) and (2) the expected behavior would be to be asked if to overwrite yes/no/cancel where answering no would result in re-targeting to the new file while leaving the old one where it was. In cases (3) and (4) the expected behavior would have been to just comply instead of complaining it can't find path (the target folders exists of course, uTorrent is trying to access them incorrectly). (1) loaded a single-file torrent (not started, no action taken, file exists in default location) tried relocating the file to an existing differently named file, wasn't asked about overwriting and was ignored, error shown said "Error: file.ext - Failed to relocate file file.ext, Cannot create a file when that file already exists." (2) loaded a multi-file torrent (not started, no action taken, files exists in default location) tried relocating a single file to an existing differently named file, wasn't asked about overwriting and was ignored, error shown said "Error: torrentname - Failed to relocate file file.ext, Cannot create a file when that file already exists." (3) loaded a multi-file torrent (not started, no action taken, files exist in default location) tried relocating a single file to a different name/location, worked fine except when trying to relocate to a sub folder of default location then ignored with error: "Error: torrentname - Failed to relocate file file.ext, The system cannot find the path specified." . (4) loaded a single-file torrent (not started, no action taken, file exists in default location) tried relocating a single file to a different name/location, worked fine except when trying to relocate to a sub folder of default location then ignored with error: "Error: file.ext - Failed to relocate file file.ext, The system cannot find the path specified." .
  2. I'm not an expert but i did notice when i gave 2.2 a chance (i stopped using it for different reasons you can see my post above) that in advanced settings "bt.transp_disposition" had been affected by the upgrade and needed to be reset to default, I'm guessing its because more values have been added. If you upgraded without keeping your settings you might want to check for other changes.
  3. No we can't, not in the same sense the we used to. We're not asking you to change relocate we're asking you to return the original and give a new name to this new feature that moves files. With the old feature it was very simple to cross-seed multi-file torrents that had minor differences in one or two files by: a) pointing to a pre-existing file with the correct data. pointing to a non-existing file of a different name and downloading the different data without corrupting the original file. This new and "improved" version of relocate will now: a) ignore you if the file already exists, or freeze. move the original file to the new location/name forcing the user to manually copy it back. Theres has been allot of requests for the ability to move files (especially without stopping the torrent, vuze style). I'm here to beg you, just because people associate this with the existing 'relocate' feature and ask for a change doesn't mean you can't keep the old feature while adding another 'move' item to the menu. Please Please Please give us back this feature we use daily and allow us to keep up with utorrent instead of staying with 2.0.4 .
  4. This new "Improved set download location/relocate feature (now moves files for you)" feature has forced me too to return to v2.0.4 . I too cross-seed many torrents. Until now it was a simple matter to point utorrent to a pre-existing file and 're-check' to seed. Or in some cases to point utorrent to a non-existing file and download a small piece without overwriting the different file and corrupting an already finished and seeding torrent. Suddenly I'm finding myself unable to use a feature I've been using almost daily for a very long time. Instead of adding another menu item to 'move' files, this reliable and needed feature has been overwritten and now all those complaints about having to move files manually and then pointing utorrent to them which brought about this new feature apply to me (with extra complications). utorrent was very reliable in that it never moved/renamed/deleted files unexpectedly now its starting to loose that reliability not to mention that trying to use this feature seem to make it unstable and causing it to freeze. I would love a 'move' feature for entire torrents as well as for single files especially if it can be used on a running torrent while keeping it seeding/paused without forcing a full stop/re-check. But I'm requesting and begging of you however you choose to do it, implement it separately from the old 'relocate' feature and allow us to use newer versions.
