  1. With RC3 sometimes (often enough) utorrent's GUI hangs for a 5-20 seconds. Also opened a torrent and it said: utorrent is already running. I know, i want to add the torrent. For the second add it worked.

    Using win7 64bit.

Does it happen at startup and about every 20 minutes? Or is it random intervals instead?

  2. @ChichipioWilson: Thanks for an excellent report! I believe I've knocked these off today' date=' but I'll verify it some more tomorrow. Hopefully we can do a refresh tomorrow night[/quote']

    ah, was wondering about that.

RC3 bug, show in "download" tab torrents that are already finished.

    had 2 go back ...

yeah, im seeing that too. happening for torrents that you didn't select all files in, its probably the same bug as ChichipioWilson posted so arvid might have already fixed it.

That bug will be fixed in the next build (which we're hoping to do today).

  3. uTorrent is not updating from version 3.0 build 25806 to any of the newer versions. I have to download the new version and install it manually. If i select check for update it returns me that i have the latest version.

The option update to beta version is unchecked, if i check it prompts me to update to version 3.1

    That's intentional.

  4. Could you take a dump of utorrent.exe when it's hung while shutting down? Wait at least 30 seconds after exiting before doing so.

In task manager, go to processes, right click utorrent.exe and hit 'Create Dump File'. Compress it, upload it somewhere, then email me the link. (Click on my name and hit Send e-mail)

  5. 3.1 RC2 Build 26508 still produces an error (utorrent.log) with text
    *******

List of unknown strings in the language file:

    *******

To transfer converted files to your Android device\n you must first mount it.

    *******

List of strings not found in the language file:

    *******

To transfer converted files to your Android device\n you must first mount it.*

even if the utorrent.exe.lang.txt is correct.

This is fixed in RC3 by stripping the final *

  6. Sorry, I forgot to hit submit when I was pasting in the new changelog. :P

We've fixed another shutdown hang and also removed the special 99.9% state that meant "writing to disk." Now there's an actual progress state that says this and also has a number with how many disk jobs are left to complete.

If you see it get stuck on a number forever (like say, 1), please take a dump of uT with Task Manager and submit it to me. In Task Manager, go to Processes, right click on utorrent.exe and click 'Create Dump File'.

  7. New client up and officially release candidate now!

We believe we've fixed the 99% issues' date=' but please let us know if it's still happening.[/quote']

I'm unsure what sparse actually does, but it's not enabling itself on Windows 8 (WinNT v6.2) so you may want your check to be a greater than ">" instead of an equal to.

Also, should it be enabled when using an SSD, or doesn't it make a difference?

Currently, we don't support Windows 8. We haven't tried it at all.

It'll cause less writes, so yes, good to enable on an SSD.

  8. Checked 99.9 - Stop - Start - (Not responding)

    (3.1 build 26462)

Could you provide a dump of uTorrent when this happens? Open Task Manager, go to Processes, right click on utorrent.exe and hit create dump file. Compress it, upload it to some file locker, then email me the link.

    Thanks!

  9. That's odd, inside the program it said no updates were available.

I've updated now manually. By the end of the day I'll have another look. :)

    Thanks for the heads-up!

    /edit: nope, the problem persists.

/edit2: uTorrent is now starting to clog up my internet connection. My router is indicating my server has set up over 900 connections, when uTorrent is limited to 200. When I set it back to 150, the amount of connections in my router drops back to 450 and then climbs back up to almost 800. Weird!

In the past I've always had the number of connections set to 300 and that always worked fine for me (got a small DSL line, I'm in Canada ;-). I never really checked in my router what that gave for the total of connections there.

Perhaps it's related to this mystery: on my new server I can't get proper up- and download speeds. It used to get max. 500 down, 75 up (usually limited to 60 during day hours). I got pretty healthy torrents, also I can see other leachers get several hundreds of kbytes of even over a MB downspeed. However, I usually can't get over 30 kBps. Same for upstream. My laptop doesn't have this issue, so it's really in the server.

Your router's keeping track of connections after uT closes them. Not really our fault and nothing we can track in any way. Adjust your router's timeout setting for TCP and UDP.
