ludde
Hi,I need a new status icon:I need the icon next to the search box.
Cricel
Oh my dear god this is awesome -- however, I do hope that this is a very very user modifiable list since any set of websites that comes as a default will surely be outdated all too quickly as torrent listing sites go up and down...This just adds a new icon to the toolbar set then, correct? Meaning, it will be a part of the current icon set/theme, rather than being some fixed icon, and you're just looking for a default right now, right? ScubaSteve
something like this you meanalso are we going to be able to customize the list of sites we want in that box. i ask this because i doubt ill use most of the trackers listed in it and i hate having drop down lists with 50 diff site names that i wont use.and oh yeah. great idea to build this in and keep up the good work. ludde
Of course it is a user modifiable list.

SledgeDG
if I may make a suggestion:since this is going to be a list of search engines and/or torrent pageswhy not simply implement the appropriate favicon.ico, which all of these sites supply anywaysThat way you could already tell by the icon where you are searching-DG
oxymoron
if I may make a suggestion:why not simply implement the appropriate favicon.ico, which all of these sites supply anywaysArgs. That's what I was going to suggest^^But then again: Ludde would need an generic icon anyways, in case a site does _not_ have a favicon...

It would be useful to have a default icon and then replace it with the favicon when it is loaded.
chaosblade
Just because i want to sound uninformed, im guessing favicon is the little icon that loads for sites in the browser ? how does it work, though ?
dajojo88
Just because i want to sound uninformed, im guessing favicon is the little icon that loads for sites in the browser ? how does it work, though ?Inside the root directory of the website, there is a favicon.ico file. Internet browsers are configured to look for this file and load it along with the page.
ScubaSteve
although thats an good suggestion i think it would be much nicer having the static search icon there. thats just my view on it though as some sites dont use favicons or if they do they are god awful ones. I am not taking credit for the idea of a static icon, but we both said it.
BloodStaindHurricane
It's really not that big a deal, is it? Use the favicons, or dont...the tool functions the same. There are too many fine point debates on every little tool/idea that's presented around here.
ScubaSteve
no its not a big deal BSH, its just that some ppl are posting without fully reading and taking the time to understand what others are trying to say. i clearly stated that i would prefer just the single search icon. sorry but this problem is happening in alot of threads across the board now and its starting to get annoying. Luminous
please don't add search. i know you would more than likely [hopefully] make it on/offable, but seriously...don't stray from the proper goal. a torrent client has no need for searching abilities, nor will it ever offer the flexibility of just opening your own webbrowser. this probably does that upon typing and hitting enter, right? why waste the screen real estate on something like this.either way, it's ugly, while the rest of the client is so sleek and well thought out. yeah yeah, i know it's probably not done...but still... ScubaSteve
i do partly agree with you on this. although i dont care either way. if it is built in then i may use it occassionally, but if its not built in then its not exactely a great loss. just means i have to click the mouse button 3 more times. MechR
because search isnt bloatMaybe. It's arguably about as easy to just keep a set of bookmarks in your browser, though. In fact, if you're using Firefox, you can add various file-sharing search engines to your search bar.Hmm, will the uTorrent search box work with any URL you supply it with? That would be impressive.
Determination
the icon lends it self to "mag glass" styles. I have one made already, and I'll start brainstorming on multi-style variations.
NiteShdw
I don't see how this would be 'bloat'. All it would do is open your browser to a webpage. It's not like they are planning on including a browser INSIDE μTorrent.

It's not like they are planning on including a browser INSIDE μTorrent.exactly. why waste screen real estate on something that does not fit in. searching is meant to be done with another program UNLESS they make the searching as full blown as an internet browser provides. hence, they should either go all the way [undesirable] or just leave it out, since it is better accomplished by another tool.feature creep, or creeping featurism, as mechr stated. searching may not be bloat, but it is not something that should be in the application. remember, just because something might be used, doesn't mean it should be there. this is a bittorrent client, not a search client. QauNuckShin
If torrent sites are there from the beginning (complete list or just examples), isn't that a violation of the american DMCA? I think there's some rules about spreading whereabouts of piracy?Hence, µTorrent would be illegal in the US..I'm not sure, but maybe... I don't really care, either, 'cause I'm from Sweden. Suckers.
