uTorrent.exe is malicious and Chrome has blocked it

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone

I just recently installed Windows 10 on my laptop and now I can't download uTorrent from both Google Chrome and Firefox.

If I try downloading the app from utorrent.com, Firefox throws me an error message saying:

Blocked: May contain a virus or spyware.

Same thing happens in Chrome:

uTorrent.exe is malicious and Chrome has blocked it.

I tried disabling antivirus software (I use Avast) but that didn't help.

Eventually I was able to get uTorrent using Edge, but I was wondering what caused these messages.

Thanks

This would require you contact those Browser support as utorrent has nothing to do with how their Browser works.

Chrome 44.0.2403.125 & both Firefox 37.0.2 / 40.0 work fine here.

I understand that this was caused by the browser but I just find it odd that two very popular browsers blocked another very popular application. Yesterday I had asked my friend to test it (also Windows 10 + Firefox) and he said he got the same error message.

Today everything seems to work fine. Not sure how but it seems like everything resolved by itself.

I second this I only have IE11 and FF40 and they work fine for torrent Google search.
