uTorrent and ssl trackers

Hi,

My ISP filters content (its by choice), I'm not trying to bypass that content filtering.

As part of that content filtering my ISP Requests that I install a root authority certificate that allows it to filter SSL traffic without all sorts of warnings and errors showing up in my browser etc...

SSL connections often fail unless the application either accepts compromised security or accepts the new certificate and therefore that security isn't compromised.

Now I've done all that I believe should be done to install this certificate in windows but i'm not sure where utorrent gets its certificate store which leaves me with constantly having to change torrents download links (when downloading .torrent files through utorrent) and ssl tracker links from https to http.

Is there something that can be done?

Nothing we can do here since your ISP is doing the blocking. Your choice is to stop using that ISP and go with another or not use torrent as they seemed determine to stop your torrent activities. You will have to either get a VPN or setup some kinda Proxy access that doesn't go through their filters. And this will be up to you to figure this out beyond this point.

It's not blocking it's filtering and not of torrenting but of http/https connections in general for inappropriate content.

In my browser I can actually install the certificate and not get even a warning, or if I don't I can still approve the seemingly unsecure connection.

Also they are not trying to stop me from torrenting I can torrent freely most if not all trackers do have optional http access, its just that it's such a bother to keep editing the tracker urls or the download link if I'm within uTorrent.

If they're setting up a root cert that allows them to filter ssl, they are NOT healthy to use.

I would agree with your opinion in general, however as I've said it is completely by choice, its an ISP that specializes in content filtering.

uTorrent doesn't seem to be getting its certificate information from windows or if it does there must be a step I'm missing?

Also it doesn't seem to present a choice or a setting to allow such seemingly unsecure connections?

Please let me know if there is anything that could be done.
